I had a similar problem in my back bedroom. I pained it what I thought was pinky beige and it ended up looking pepto bismol pink once it was covering the whole wall. So I tried to neutralize it. Green was recommended as a color to use in the room to look good with it instead of blue which I had been using, which only highlighted it more. BUT, although I had some plants in the room and a green headboard on the bed, the BEST thing I did to "neutralize" the pink was to embrace it and use SIMILAR colors, like yellow, brown, maroon, pink, red, terra cotta. So take whichever color you like the best, the green or the orange, and then fill your kitchen with shades of those colors you DO like. You can find great palette Web sites online to play around with these possibilities. Embrace the color you like and that will hide the tone of that color in your kitchen that you don't like. As for the other color you don't like, it will now have more competition. For some reason, my bedroom photos aren't showing on my photo site so I can't post pics to illustrate. But that's advice I got here a couple of years ago and it worked.

rebunky I just now saw your pics. I love the picture that you had saved for awhile. My island cabinets are very similar to the blue in that picture :) It's been scrunch time and I've spent the last two days going nuts trying to figure out my counters! I think I've come to a decision for the island counter top. I've decided like the look of ceaserstone more than granite and love the Bianco Drift. I think it will be a really good match for the blue island. I need to go and get a physical sample though to make sure the two do really go well together. Here it is: As for the perimeter... I don't know yet. Maybe I'll stick to the same.

Orange is a good compliment to your colors, just not in a good location on that wall. I have Agreeable Gray in my FR, but we did it at 150%. Looks different in my room, but it goes great with blue-greys and should go great with the slightly more green ones you have too. I agree -- the Gale Force and Moscow Midnight are not the colors I would use, but they were the names I knew to get you looking at the related colors. Blustery Sky and Debonair would be where I would start. If you don't like the lighter colors, stay with your Agreeable Gray on the other walls (like the door painted in the same color semi gloss). If you want to use something like Outgoing Orange or the Coral Reef, the trick will be figuring out placement -- where to start and stop. I think you would need a rug if you used it in the LR. You have a good color idea working -- just keep playing with the pieces until you figure out the fit.

Not sure but I can’t edit my other comment so. Why not think just the island done with soapstone counter and all the cabinets a nice neutral . Choosing cabinet color is also dependant on many things . Or choose all the same counters and do just the island cabinets in that color you like. IMO a designer might be a good choice to avoid mistakes. Building a house is a daunting task with all the decisions that need to be made some help is usually a good idea. I also would strongly reccommend a kitchen designer from the beginning not your architect but an actual KD
