WANTED: Unique, Fun and Exciting Peppers
Comments (7)Put me in that boat as well! (Well, not for seed saving, but for selling!) Pepper Rancher's Lemon Drops look amazing, and it seems that they would produce enough with 2 or 3 bushes. My wife was captivated when I showed her the photos in that thread. I want to grow a poblano-type pepper because I want to start making my own chili rellenos. I"m planning on Bell peppers of different colors to be a major focus (I hear Chocolate Bells do well), and some nice orange-yellow habaneros for color and heat. Is there such a thing as a chipotle pepper, is is this just a jalapeno that's been harvested and dried? What's a good mole pepper? So basically I'm looking for good, prolific, and popular at the market. thanks for starting this thread tootsie!...See MoreJust for fun, what do you love but would never have in your own home?
Comments (78)In my new home, I have a housekeeper come every other week. I like clean homes. I do NOT like the actual job of cleaning them. I'd rather work in the garden, or do some cooking, or deal with the chickens, or keep up with physical maintenance and house painting/staining, or do graphic arts or anything else. I'm fine with doing laundry, too. I clean up after myself in the kitchen, but the housekeeper does floors, bathrooms and general dusting/windows and such. And I now have a robot vacuum who is pretty decent at what he does. He even has a name: Sharkey. I'm not crazy about cleaning his filter, but it comes with the territory and lasts five minutes... I didn't have a housekeeper back at my old CT home. One reason my getting out of there and getting the place on the market is taking so long... especially since I then had a full time job that lasted well over the standard 40 hour work week. THIS one will be clean! But it doesn't need to be anally-House Beautiful clean. Simply lived in and tidy. My reasons for not wanting a fully white kitchen or other rooms are not about appearing clean, but about my just only wanting white as an accent. Aesthetically. That's what works for my sense of eye appeal....See MoreFun things to do with the kids and grandkids this summer--got any?
Comments (14)A teacher friend of mine taught a summer Spanish/crafts class last year and I helped out a couple of times. We made Mexican folk art using pieces of felt. First we drew our subject; I chose to do an elephant, and using our drawings as patterns, we cut shapes out of felt. The felt pieces were then glued onto a full size piece of felt and the finished result was framed. This is mine: Another fun project was making Day of the Dead masks. I drew a skull template which we copied onto card stock and cut out. Each child was given a mask to decorate with markers, tissue paper flowers, glitter, sequins, feathers, pompoms, buttons and whatever other fun things we could think of. Once they were done, we cut stretchy ponytail holders in half and stapled them to each side of the mask so that they held the mask on when the kids wore them....See MoreDo you have any feedback on my updated floor plan?
Comments (38)@tatts I came here for informal design help as I lay out my house. I think some people understand that and others do not seem to understand that. I understand that details about the house location and whether it is sewer or septic are lacking to some folks. I appreciate that me just moving things around in a house in a photo editor doesn't make any sense in the real world. Just because I post an idea or edited floor plan of something does not mean that is is going to be built that way or built at all. I have a site engineer, my GC, and a design & structural engineering firm. @roccouple Thanks for all of your thoughts! I really appreciate it! I'll think about axing the fireplace as it definitely eats some space. We like having a fireplace but we don't plan on using it often. We consider it our secondary heating source in case we lose power but maybe we could do something different. The garage is a little out of proportion of the house..We tried to find a balance. :-) you guessed correctly we have a couple of cars, 3 motorcycles, and will most likely end up with a couple of snowmobiles in a year or two. I have a decent amount of tools to go with the toys and we also have lots of outdoor gear. The garage is actually going to be pretty tight space-wise! @mnmamax3 Thanks! We were thinking about trying to put the W/D inside of cabinets or something similar so we could potentially close a cabinet or closet door. I'm also thinking we could add a door at the entry of the mudroom (from living room) just how @mama goose_gw zn6OH did in her most recent post....See Morenhbaskets
