I will eat almost everything but I have a DH who just has to be the pickyest person in the world. This means I have to cook two different dinners on many nights. DH won't eat anything with onions, garlic, oregano, mayonnaise,salad dressing, cabbage, broccoli, spinach (or any other greens),fish of any kind,and no tropical fruit. He wont eat any type of casserole, pasta or potato salad.He won't eat things where one food is touching another. He will eat hash browns and french fried potatoes only, no other kind of potatoes. When we want to have spaghetti, I have to make two sauces, we like the traditional Italian type while he wants some ground beef, some tomato sauce and some chili powder for spice. He will never try anything new. He lives on chicken, pork chops, beef, peas, corn, green beans, chili beans,french fries and bread. It is such a shame as he is missing so many good foods. I get a headache just thinking about what I can't feed him. If the day comes and we aren't together(after 49 years of marriage), the first thing I will ask a suitor,is what do you like to eat.LOL

(I got hooked on Winter Sowing last year, so these will go into my seed bag for this coming years' sowing!) Bulbs: Allium Persian Blue, Pink Buttercups, Giant Daffodils 'King Edward', Iris Blue Magic, Mediterranean Bells, 'Queen of Night' Tulips, Lycoris, and a Garlic Bulb (to ward off Vampires, lol) Live plants: Some iris rhizomes and sweet potato. I still need to look some things up online, and learn a bit about them. It has been so dreary and rainy this week, but I think it should clear up on the week end, and then guess what I'll be doing!! Sandy, I could drive down SR 37 with my eyes closed! We live south of Marion. A quick Google check for architectural salvage in Indy lists several. The prices are out of our budget, but the pieces are beautiful. One door (French door set) was $250. It's much like the french doors I got :) At least one GWer lives nearby. Tom lives within driving distance of Indianapolis. He put Kline cabinets in his kitchen last fall. He posted his kitchen pics and gave Kline Cabinetmakers a rave recommendation. I admired a display at Clarks in Castleton and contacted Kline after seeing Tom's cabinets. Kline will be making our cabinets, too! I cannot remember her name, but there is a couple living in southern Indiana who remodeled their kitchen in a few weeks. She posted day-by-day pics. It came out fabulous! It may have been over Thanksgiving last year. Caroline, Your house is wonderful. If ours turns out anywhere close to yours I will be thrilled. On the stone-You are right, it can always be used for something outside. The one piece was relocated under a tree. There is a chair and little table. It's a wonderful place to read. The kitchen plan has ~36'' cupboards flanking the refrigerator; I need small countertops. One slab for each counter would do it. No need to piece a long run together. One side has a countertop convection oven (it must sit on a non-flammable surface). The other side is for breakfast prep-coffee & tea, toaster, etc. It would be so wonderful to touch that every morning and think of the thousands of people who passed our house over the years. I get emotional just thinking about it! I picked up a chipped piece this morning and tried to figure out what kind of stone it is. It is a brownish gray, (more gray much less brown than these pics) feels grainy-like sand, and has lots of tiny sparkly bits. The rock is compact rather than layered. It must be porous because there are some green (moss stain?) areas. The scraped bits soaked with lime cleaner didn't bubble or dissolve. The large slabs feel very smooth, not flaky like the small piece. Maybe it is sandstone, but I thought that was soft-it would have lots of wear after 100 years. I am hoping one of the stone experts will take a peak and weigh-in with an opinion. If not I'll try a stone forum. Judy

I bought my brother a coffee bean roaster plus a supply of green coffee beans, and I think he will enjoy this, as he likes his beans roasted a certain way (light or blond) and they are more difficult to find than dark roasted beans. We do not normally exchange gifts, but this year he was diagnosed with colon cancer (at age 53) and after his surgery, he now has to live with a colostomy bag. While he was in the hospital, a couple of his co-workers (friends) visited him, and one of them did grocery shopping for us, as I was recuperating from surgery at the same time. So I made some pillows for them with fabric that I got at work. I made one for my sister as well. The fabric is from 24" x 24" samples of fabric that is now discontinued, and so I got the samples for free, but if I had had to buy the fabric it would have been $144 to $175 a yard wholesale. I also made some chocolate Habanero hot sauce that one of his employees loves, and so she will be getting some of that in addition to the pillow. The chocolate Habanero chilies are very difficult to grow and they are impossible to find in stores (very occasionally at a farmers' market here), but they have a very distinctive smoky/earthy flavor that a lot of people (including me) love. I grill the chilies over wood/charcoal to intensify the smoky flavor. Anyway, the sauce is rather labor-intensive to make, considering I have to grow the chilies, but I still feel like I'm being cheap when I give it as a gift since it costs me very little to make, other than my time. I put zippers in the pillows I made, and that was the biggest pain in making those. I've given pillows to people before who did not appreciate them - one person wanted liquor instead. One year that our family had Secret Santa, I got my BIL's name, and I made him a really nice heavy knit nightshirt, but my sister stole it from him.
