Liner leak question - water under liner now
Comments (12)Thanks waterbug_guy and mike_il! That's I'm here - you folks are smart. The events of the past few hours have certainly shown me that you are both correct about the source of the water. I don't know what the heck I thought I was doing with my testing, must have read my yardstick wrongly. At daybreak tomorrow, I will be digging out a cubic yard of pea gravel into two large trashcans and get to the manifold at the bottom of the filter pond. No doubt, it's leaking at up there. All of my plumbing is now exposed, so that's not it. It's leaking like a pig now when the pump is running. I can't even get the waterfall to flow with the pump on, put I but my hand in front of the pump and it's pulling water, so all that water is getting underneath. A close look with a flashlight tonight showed damp ground all around the upper pond at the base of the dirt build-up. This explains a lot of things - wet vegetation around the pond, a shrub that died where the water is accumulating, and the waterfall has been a bit less powerful and tonight it"s just a trickle (pump off now). Big question: I've always run my pump 24/7. Will the fish be okay for 24 hrs with no aerating waterfall, or should I go out and buy a fountain or take my oxygen tank from my welding kit and bubble some O2 up? I will post some pictures tomorrow so you can all see my leak....See MoreHow to prevent water from leaking in under a car garage door?
Comments (14)we had the same problem except worse because our garage is at the bottom of our steep driveway so the rain was rushing down the driveway and under the garage door making a huge pool in there. We did have a drainage channel in front of the garage but the water couldnt drain away quickly enough so it just overflowed, and all we did was install a french drain at the side of the driveway where the water could drain off to and it completely fixed the problem. By the way, our drainage channel isnt one you buy, it's just a concrete half tunnel that is part of the driveway so you could easily make one after cutting a small strip out...See MoreIs water supposed to leak under shower floor tiles?? Comments (27)I know this is 4 years later but the missing grout is obviously why water has leaked under the tiles. Yes floor tiles will have the odd pinhole in the grout and also as you learned grout does absorb water and moisture/water does inevitably get under the tile but a large chunk like that would increase the amount of water under ur tiles. Even with weep holes, everytime your shower water will soak under the tiles and it'll never dry off. Your base is waterproofed but it'll also increase mold etc bc it'll never really dry. What I would've done was not use the shower until everything was dry. Maybe even use a shop vac and suck out as much water as you can from that one large area. Then regrout all the areas with holes and voids. But this would've been a potential temp fix as the entire grout job could've been bad and powdering if it wasn't mixed properly. I have mosaic floor tiles in my shower and I regret not getting larger ones because I hate all the grout lines. More grout lines means more maintenance and cleaning of it. 😑 But I do wonder how many people have shower floors that are constantly wet under the tile and not know it. I'm sure more people than not. Most people don't even realize whether or not their grout is in good shape or not. Btw. 4 years later, what did you end up doing?...See MoreWater mark on wall in cabinet under sink - but no leak. Comments (3)In my mind the water is probably coming down from the window, collecting at the bottom plate and wicking back up on the inside wall....See MoreUltra Windows
