floorguy- you are correct. There is no rebar, just some thick wire in a mesh/grid pattern. DH was concerned when he first cut open the concrete. He believes the wire should have been embedded somewhat into the concrete. After removing more of the concrete to widen the opening, we discovered the wires are embeded into the concrete, now, in this new wider area. I forgot to mention..along with finding the large chunk of concrete, there is a piece of wood (looks like a 2 x 4) lodged below the drain pipe. We don't know why that's there. This area must have been a dumping site during construction & stuff just got left there? It's been 4 days since we dug out the sopping wet soil and exposed this drain pipe. We have been using all sinks, bathrooms, dishwasher, & laundry. There has been absolutely no water showing up anywhere in that hole. We have also had the backyard sprinkler system turned off for the past 3 weeks. This dining room is adjacent to our backyard that's mostly grass with a row of boxwood plants near the wall. It will be interesting to see what happens when we turn the sprinklers back on. The sprinkler system (installed many years ago by DH) includes pipes & risers along the area by the wall for the boxwood plants. There's also a hose/spigot connection there on that wall as well.

Does this filter supply an additional faucet or does it supply the cold faucet at the sink? Since you mention COPPER tubing it most likely uses a compression fitting and you may have kinked or cracked the tubing. If you don't know what you're doing then the easiest solution is to get someone in there to correct the problem or shut off the water and remove the filter along with the tubing and take it to someone who knows what they are doing and can advise you. Any help we can provide is based SOLELY on your ability to accurately describe the components and the problem. You will have to either accurately describe the problem and components or post a picture or move it closer to the screen so we can see it. If you are intent on replacing the filters yourself the installation might be improved to make that easier for you.

I think it's a great idea! Sometime after I had let my husband talk me out of moving my sink to a window wall (live in Wisconsin), it dawned on me that I could have run the water lines under the cabs. But that was after we had re-routed the gas line (at great effort), so I decided not to 'go there'... Cabinets that use the leg levelers (like IKEA) are ideal for situations like this where you need to use the space under the cabs, behind the toe-kicks. A lot of the custom guys are using this system because it saves material and simplifies construction and installation. Another reason to like it is the ability to easily check the piping for leaks, etc. as opposed to having them buried in a wall or under the floor. That, & the piping is easy to access should you ever want to add things like pot-fillers, prep sink, ice-makers, etc.

The plumbing for this type of sink is decorative and functional, not the junk you were given. If this is a new build, your GC should be involved in this and you should not be dealing with the plumber yourself. I would talk to the GC and complain about the installation being inappropriate for the supplied sink fixture and ask whether he is going to make it appropriate or give you a discount for doing that on your own later. I do believe I have also read about pex not liking UV light and that should be a simple google for you to discover. Use that info to get the GC to pony up for a good plumber, or to pay for the repair after the closing. If you can get them to give you stubs, the correct plumbing in the finish of your choice is available from places like Vintage Tub and Bath. You can keep the supply coming from the floor. I see it in Satin nickel here on Houzz, but not brass. Vintage Tub and Bath has 30" high water supplies that go through the floor that are meant for a bathtub, in polished brass.
