Looking for Living Room Designer Ideas

I am looking at getting a tk800 benq projector for my living room. I will have a screen that drops down in front of the entertainment nook or whatever that is technically called above the fireplace mantle. However, I am not sure what to do with that void above the fireplace while using a projector as my main 'TV' I am looking for any and creative ideas and help.

Well, you could pick something a hair larger so it could be hung basically covering up the niche. Then you could have a great place to hide things-ha!

I am not putting a TV inside that spot. I will have a drop down screen in front of that black area that will only come down when I use it. Thank you for your reply :)

Is your TV above the fireplace? I think that is what I am seeing and if so I will assume this is your main room and where you view TV and spend family time? Your TV location really limits your furniture arrangement possibilities since it will be the focus of the space and it appears from the photos that the majority of the space in the room is down at the opposite end. Rather that a 3d rendering it would help more if you could draw out the floor plan of the room with measurements and show us that.

The best option (the one with the most longevity and flexibility for decorating/changing decor etc...) would be to paint the entire space one neutral color without accent walls. If you must an paint accent wall then please pick the right wall to accent and yes it should go all the way up wherever the wall goes. https://thedecorologist.com/how-to-choose-an-accent-wall/ If you really really still want that wall "accented" (and want the stairway wall a different color than the living room wall) then you could use molding on the wall to create a break point for the color transition.

I really dislike sectionals for seating , IMO the most expensive way to get the largest number of uncomfortable seats. I think to add seating in your space woudl be best with just adding chairs maybe 4 . You seem to have a lot of wasted sopace like in front of the windows for instance and since thta is not a patio door why the huge walkway behind the sofa . I would put 2 chairs on the wall where the window is and a table witha lamp, move the sofa back and add 2 more chairs in the space that will be created on the right of the wall unit when uou move the sofa back then when you have ac rowd pull the 2 chairs in from the window and the rest of the time those 2 chairs are a nuce space for an afternoon read or with a friend for a glass of wine . Take that little console table a awy add a long shallow one and a huge piece of art above it . A bigger rug to now fill thta space you will create with moving the sofa.Some solar shades on that window so you can keep the view and add nice full drapes for nightime to cozy up the space .

So, maybe just hang a piece of art or canvas print the same size as a tv, it would cover up all the outlets.

I like what Beverly did in lining up your niche and windows!

I do like what Beverly did with the windows! And nice idea on the art. But I am afraid the depth would make it weird. I was thinking a bookcase or something like that (But I don't have many books to fill it haha) it is about 3 feet deep by the way.

You can just add some styrofoam blocks behind a large piece of art (one that fills the niche) to move the art piece forward a bit, so it doesn't look like it's in a hole. You could stick them to the wall and hang the picture from hooks in the top of the niche instead of from the back.

Easiest solution: a single large canvas that covers the hole.

Second easiest: frame it out and drywall over it. If you're handy, you might do it yourself. You'll still need something like art on the mantel.
