Just some thought: current design trends & upholstery concern
Comments (17)I'm *not* a floral chintz person, but I love your room! The floral is very fresh and pretty, not at all stuffy or dated. Your condo is really lovely. I'm not usually a fan of slipcovers. If they're not really well fitted they can look rumpled. OTOH, it can be a nice change of pace for the warm seasons. I found it interesting reading your comments about current trends. Like with all trends, there are things I like and things I don't. I do like the emphasis on natural elements. They're soothing and warm and can even be cheap! Like my little stack of flat river stones currently on the mantel, picked up at the beach. Other trendy things I just don't like. Those stainless or aluminum chairs and barstools just look to me like they belong in police station or jail. Neutral colors are great, but I also love color. I wish I could afford a Susan Sargent rug, for instance. You seem to have great taste and style, so trust your instinct. If you continue to feel the upholstery isn't what you want, then go ahead and slipcover. But maybe give it a couple months more to let everything grow on you....See MoreHelp! Living Room Design Ideas
Comments (3)A couple of chairs in front of the bay window might look nice with the sofa facing them and separating the LR from the DR visually. On the other hand, will the TV be in this room? That would change things, and I'd be tempted to keep the sofa where it is if the TV will be on the opposite wall (where wall unit is shown)....See MoreLiving Room Design/Layout Ideas (Modern Farmhouse)
Comments (2)Don't put the TV over the fireplace. Your necks will thank you, and you've got a great spot for it on the back of the garage wall. I also wouldn't buy a sectional. It will limit your furniture arrangements and no one ever sits in the corner anyway. Two sofas or a sofa and chairs are much more versatile, and the kids are going to want to lay all over the floor and on poufs....See MoreHELP: Design Ideas for Living Room
Comments (55)Yes, I love my ideabooks! As far as furniture placement, you could take your existing furniture and move it around or draw on graph paper or use an app. til you decide what you like, You need to decide if you want a sofa or sectional. I have my sofa back to entry hall (with lots of room for walking) with a console table behind. That is my favorite sofa placement. Sectionals look fab but I find them uncomfortable. Houzz or Pinterest have lots of "rules of thumb" for placement....See MoreRawketgrl
