Design Dilemma living room Furniture

Need living room design ideas

Looking for design ideas for our living room as we need more seating options. While I think the space would be beautiful for a large sectional, we would ideally like to keep the couch that is currently in the room and add a few additional seating options (maybe another couch and matching chair). I don’t know how to pick out a different couch to compliment the existing one. Also open to changing out the other pieces in the room (rug, side/coffee tables) as I want the pieces to compliment to the space. Would love any suggestions on this room!

Your current sofa and the rug are both great! A couple suggestions:

--Scoot your sofa back about six inches or so.

--At least two armchairs would give you more flexibility than another couch or sectional. (A sectional would take up a lot of visual and actual space when you already have the large TV cabinet.) Place them either diagnonally to face the sofa or put one at each end of the coffee table. I don't know if you have quite enough room for this double-chair layout. Either way, get comfortable but low proportioned chairs. Note that a large round table is reachable from sofa and all the chairs and makes it easier for people to move around to get to their seating.

--If there's room, consider creating a reading zone by the window with a comfy, but low proportioned armchair and ottoman and wall or floor lamp. (I can't quite tell if there's room enough for this from your photos.) AIf you do double chairs in a conversational grouping, then a reading chair would be too much.

I really dislike sectionals for seating , IMO the most expensive way to get the largest number of uncomfortable seats. I think to add seating in your space woudl be best with just adding chairs maybe 4 . You seem to have a lot of wasted sopace like in front of the windows for instance and since thta is not a patio door why the huge walkway behind the sofa . I would put 2 chairs on the wall where the window is and a table witha lamp, move the sofa back and add 2 more chairs in the space that will be created on the right of the wall unit when uou move the sofa back then when you have ac rowd pull the 2 chairs in from the window and the rest of the time those 2 chairs are a nuce space for an afternoon read or with a friend for a glass of wine . Take that little console table a awy add a long shallow one and a huge piece of art above it . A bigger rug to now fill thta space you will create with moving the sofa.Some solar shades on that window so you can keep the view and add nice full drapes for nightime to cozy up the space .

Is your TV above the fireplace? I think that is what I am seeing and if so I will assume this is your main room and where you view TV and spend family time? Your TV location really limits your furniture arrangement possibilities since it will be the focus of the space and it appears from the photos that the majority of the space in the room is down at the opposite end. Rather that a 3d rendering it would help more if you could draw out the floor plan of the room with measurements and show us that.

Move in. Live in the space and see how it works. The house will tell you what it wants. In the meantime, start an ideabook for every room. By the time you're ready to start designing, you'll have a clear idea of your style. Then come back with photos of the house as it actually is with whatever furniture you already have, and we can help. Right now we don't have near enough information to make any suggestions. Don't be in a huge hurry to rush out and buy stuff. That's how expensive mistakes get made. Have a plan before you buy a single thing. Otherwise you'll be stuck with the too-large purple couch you fell in love with and won't be able to make it work.

Hello everyone, I just recently moved into my apartment and currently only have some furniture from my old flat, which I dont really like. Therefore I am currently trying to think of how I want to redesign it and buy all the furniture over the next few monts. Unfortunately I have no real sense of what looks good together, what details to look out for and how to match colors. I am trying to keep it simple and modern. So far I have tried to design it with an online room planer (see link below), since I just cant imagine how a piece of furniture would look like in real life... Link to current Situation (Design Dilemma) & Future https://imgur.com/a/RA9fmIG Some things I want to mention: The couch in this simulator, I already have, I will get it from my sister since she is getting a new one. I will also keep my desk, everything else will be replaced (TV-Stand, Cupboards, etc.) Overall I like it how it looks so far although there are a few issues: Rug. I really like the rug but am not able to find it anywhere. What rug would you recommend? TV-Stand: I am not the biggest fan of this lightgrey TV-Stand. I was thinking about a lowboard that has a dark brown frame and a little white to it. Something like this: https://www.beliani.at/tv-stand-light-wood-with-white-eerie.html Also should I add something else instead of the cupboard with the books above the cupboard to decorate the wall? Big wall art: I don't have a big wallart for the wall yet, this one is just temporary and I'm sorry that it is not centered ;-) Cupboard below the Art: Does a cupboard fit there? I will have one cupboard next to the desk and I really need some storage space. Any recommendations? It just looks really clumped. What else could I do with this space?
