living room design idea 309 sqft

we need help with furnishing this space. it's odd and anything I come up with look sot take up the room. we'll be here a year and I haven't decorated one bit. I NEED HELP PLEASE!

Is your TV above the fireplace? I think that is what I am seeing and if so I will assume this is your main room and where you view TV and spend family time? Your TV location really limits your furniture arrangement possibilities since it will be the focus of the space and it appears from the photos that the majority of the space in the room is down at the opposite end. Rather that a 3d rendering it would help more if you could draw out the floor plan of the room with measurements and show us that.

Yes, that was my husbands idea to mount the TV. I feel it limits us too.. heres the floor plan

Even with a very narrow table of 36", you need 24" on either side to pull out chairs. That alone is 7', which only leaves you 6' for a sofa and coffee table. Your best bet is to lay out measurements of the sofa with blue tape and see what you have left for space. Is there a reason you need to fit both areas into one space?

Posting mostly to see at right the 2 windows with table / chairs [yours could be bigger]. Flip the white sofa and upholstered chairs... sort of: The conversation arc: place furniture so that people can easily hear one another. 8 feet (244 cm) is ideal; larger rooms may need to be broken into seating groups. Circulation paths need 30 - 36" (77-91 cm) of clear width. You can place coffee or cocktail tables as close as 12" (30 cm) from the edge of the seating. Other furnishings might need at least 24" (61 cm) between pieces for people to easily move about.

You need a focal point around which to gather the seating, so the electric fireplace is a great idea. My first thought is that there may be a contradiction of style between a traditional brick wall and a more contemporary frame TV/FP. If you're thinking real brick to the ceiling, that will be a cleaning nightmare with scaffolding, etc. to deal with. It is also not as flexible as a painted wall when you want to change the ambiance of your room. Here's something to consider.

the left is the French door windows, the openings at the bottom is to the kitchen and the other is the front door and the 2 on the left are windows.

That large grill appears to be a return and you cannot block it and have your heat/ac system work well, however an end table in front of it that permitted air to reach the return beneath the table top would work and you could put a comfortable chair beside that end table with lamp..
