We're still talking about when it snowed in 1989
Comments (3)Yup.....big difference between a heavy snow and an ice storm. In an ice storm, it's a given we will lose power. I think it two years ago, a mammoth one come from the north-east. We hunkered down, awaiting. It stopped just as it entered our county.........stopped where the flatland glaciated terrain ends up against the hills. That area just happened to be in a state park/wildlife area, and when we drove a county over to see our accountant, it was like we were eyewitnesses to the glacier of thousands of years ago. Trees were just keeled over and snapped up to that magic line where the ice storm stopped. In our section of the county, it came down like rain. Just the difference of a few degrees. I can't imagine what it must be like to be a linesman, one in a crew who must work night and day for a week or two to bring folks back on the grid. How dangerous it must be to be up into the poles and trees where they're nothing but icicles, and the wind chill is in the negative numbers....See MoreWe're getting a Noreaster Snow Storm on Monday
Comments (21)I've been using the blankets all April against up to 50mph winds, frost and freeze with no problems. The cages aren't buried into the ground; they are supported by 2X4's on the ground sliding through them and 40lb bags of rock on each side of the cages laying on top of the 4X4's. The cages aren't flimsy at all due to our set up. We're going out in about 2 hours to hang the blankets. The cages, 2X4's, rock etc are already in place. We've left them there all month because there's no point taking them down until we are safely out of frost danger in mid May....See MoreCarol in Jacksonville...getting any sleet/snow/ice?!?!
Comments (13)Sorry to all that's dealing with all this winter misery!! Hang in there everyone!! The next ten days after today seems a lot warmer...too hot for me actually,lol...Why can't we have a happy medium!?!...like Highs in the low 70's in Feb.? Oh well...I'll take the hot over the Freeze any day :o) Silvia, I didn't get off completely Scott free...I did have one morning (Jan. 19th) Hubby's birthday of all days... 27-32 degrees for at least 7 hours...Mango trees sustained some "cold damage" to the leaves...not sure how that's going to affect the blooms? Happy to hear you fared much better :o) This post was edited by puglvr1 on Thu, Jan 30, 14 at 10:57...See MoreWe're buying a new dishwasher. Any we should avoid?
Comments (20)I had a Bosch and returned it within 2 weeks. It had an odor and the dishes wouldn't get nearly as dry as previous dishwashers. And it was installed correctly . . . so don't believe the odor is going to be avoided by that. I think it may be the luck of the draw. Replaced it with a Kitchenaid KUDS03STSS. Love it, love it, love it. To my untrained ear sounds just as quiet as the Bosch. Gets the dishes totally dry and not a whiff of an odor. I truly believe that all appliances can have issues. So it will just depend on what happens in your case. My one absolute firm recommendation is to take your dishes and try them. My tall wine glasses did not fit in the Bosch but fit wonderfully in the Kitchenaid. My dog bowls (and I wash lots of them) did not fit well in the GE Profile (they wouldn't have stood upright so would have gotten filled with water) but fit perfectly in the Kitchenaid....See Morebob_cville
