Backsplash ideas please. Marble / white granite / oak cabs
Comments (9)Hopefully, they will get the yellow marks off (there was a slab stacked in front of it). Msjam, I'm linking to an earlier GW thread about your granite choice. I suspect that the yellow marks are iron oxidation (rust) that originates from within the stone. Wanted to give you a heads up on this so you don't get any nasty surprises on down the road. From what I've read, the iron bits in stone can continue to oxidize and you'll be seeing more or it as time goes by. You might want to investigate further... Comments (6)First, cool hanging light fixture :) What do you think of white Shaker cabinetry with concrete counters. I think the copper sink may be hard to decorate around; I can't really tell from the pics how dark the copper is, but if it's deep brown, then I think it'll go with the concrete. As for backsplash, glass subway tile is a nice contemporary look if you'd like to pull in a contemporary element. You could also go with white or pale gray tiles in something like 3 x 12 stack set. Then grout in white. Under cabinet lighting will make the glass tile sparkle if you opt for that. I'd stay away from marble, as much as I love it, because it may be too much of different stone types with the slate floor....See MoreBacksplash ideas please!

Comments (3)The things that could be done fairly soon without much trouble , to make a difference would be backsplash change , removal of cabs from above window spot , change the hardware and different pendant lights. I think just staying in the traditional feel would be less chaotic and help the look of the cabinet style be actually quite welcoming. Later when you know more you can think about more drastic changes or not. Certainly there are many other costs with getting situated in the new home. Enjoy....See MoreAnthony Perez
