Your cupboards look lighter than those in the pix with the granite, so it should work. That granite is "busy" but very interesting-looking. We are trying to decide between granite and quartz, but granite definitely provides more options.

Michellemarie, thanks for sharing the pics of your kitchen. It's beautiful, and your backsplash is along the lines of what I was thinking for mine. Did you use a slightly darker color for your grout or is it the same color as your tile? I did look at some fireclay colors yesterday and I might order some samples if I can't find anything locally. My paint color is SW Wool Skein - def changes color depending on the light - cream/gray/green/yellow. Thanks for all the recommendations! I'm going to a few more stores tomorrow (although now that school's out I have to drag my kids with me :( )

An image would be helpful. Kashmir white is a speckle-y stone, but it doesn't have a lot of colors in it. It is often paired with a marble bs tile, if for no other reason, most people pick this stone as an alternative to the marble they love the look of, but worry about maintaining (which is a little silly since this stone stains and etches too, but whatever...). Here's an image from photobucket that probably belongs to a GWer. Your cabinets are made of a relatively dark wood, your floors are dark, I think it might be a bit much to go for a dark bs too, but whatever you decide, I hope you find something you love.

First, cool hanging light fixture :) What do you think of white Shaker cabinetry with concrete counters. I think the copper sink may be hard to decorate around; I can't really tell from the pics how dark the copper is, but if it's deep brown, then I think it'll go with the concrete. As for backsplash, glass subway tile is a nice contemporary look if you'd like to pull in a contemporary element. You could also go with white or pale gray tiles in something like 3 x 12 stack set. Then grout in white. Under cabinet lighting will make the glass tile sparkle if you opt for that. I'd stay away from marble, as much as I love it, because it may be too much of different stone types with the slate floor.
