Backsplash help - ideas please
Comments (4)Sorry I can't post pictures of the cabinets or countertop as they are not installed yet. Actually, they are both on order. The countertop color link is posted below. Kraftmaid describes the fawn finish as 'A soft nut brown semi-transparent finish'. The kitchen is open to the dining room and I have wainscoting to match the cabinets in there. The top of the walls will probably be painted a soft green color. I have alot of natural light in the room, if that makes a difference. I am struggling to find a tile that picks up the brown color in the countertop which is what I have been trying to do. Any suggestions would be most welcome! Comments (29)I haven't seen that granite in person, but wow yours is so glossy and beautiful. Love the way it looks with your cabinets; the peninsula looks soooo pretty. Don't like the marble BS with your granite. Agree with palimpsest that the scale and pattern of the movement is too similar to that in your granite. They'll end up fighting rather than complementing each other. Of the glass I like the one in the middle. More neutral than the others and looks to go very well with the color of the floors. I don't think it's stark. The subway is a great shape that melds with the traditional ( transitional?) style of your cabs, but the glass has a modern feel and goes well with your fabulously glossly granite which is the star in that kitchen. Keep it simple. BTW, no matter what the backsplash or what the GC says, no No NO to the 4" granite BS! If you have more of the glass tile, yes please post a picture with several in place so we can see how it looks and please show us whatever else you find!...See MoreBacksplash ideas for soft white kitchen with brown quartz countertop
Comments (4)NOT travertine. Run a search for "gardenweb and travertine." There are at least fifty threads that read, "my travertine bs looks pink now that it has been installed." I feel bad for the first five or so posters......See MoreCountertop and backsplash help for white kitchen!
Comments (22)Beth H, thank you again for your thoughtful suggestions! Unfortunately, as I am in Canada, I won't be able to buy from TileBar. But it is great just to see the possible choices. I totally understand how my inspiration photo and my actual kitchen are totally different, it is just that I thought possible to borrow one isolated concept... Regarding the flat side of the island - yes, it does have a shaker style trim same as on cabinets, so it definitely looks more finished than on my mockup :) So, to sum things up, you advise against using slab backsplash on the window wall, no matter what style of tile backsplash we decide to go with, right?...See MoreAqua Kitchen and Bath Design Center
