JD Freedom deck - should it have much lift?
Comments (6)mbs, Up until now, I have only used Gator blades. I became intrigued with all the chatter about mulchinig and decided to purchase the mulch kit for my 2210. After the first few mows, I was prepared to discard the kit. After a few more, I am undecided . . . although less so in favor of the discarding. A mulching deck is different and operates differently. Conditions are important, as well as intervals between cuts. You mention the picking up aspect. In this regard, the mulching setup fails miserably. Plain Gators will suck up everything you want and don't; the mulching kit just clips off the top of the grass. Although I have another set of Gators on order, I'll continue to play around with the mulch kit. Cheers JDFANATIC...See MoreHouston, we have lift-off!
Comments (5)Yeah, kimmsr, I knew about the moisture but thanks for the "tip". ;-) That's why I had "fluffed" it by rolling. It's difficult maintaining a proper balance here. If it's too dry, the ants come calling. If it's too wet, it risks becoming anaerobic (and it seems I can hear the flies plotting to come laying). It seems to take about half a day to go from one extreme to the other here in the high desert. I think I hit on the key: push the limit on greens and try to keep it toasty. I think I'll continue the three-day feed/turn/tend pattern, but take to rolling the bin every day or two in between. So, even if it's a bit damp, the added air flow can help keep the herd happy. The white stuff looked a bit like a bunch of fine ashes, not really attached to anything. I've had a variety of molds and fungi come and go, so - again - my rational side says it's just another happy growth. (I've learned to stop being alarmed and trust my nose to guide me.) I wasn't smart enough to take a picture, though. Still, it was cool to be able to warm my hands as if my compost were a gentle campfire. Didn't think I'd get to experience that with my little can. :)...See MoreIf you have an mixer lift, how wide is your cabinet
Comments (13)Be aware that mixers come in various heights so choose the lift's placement in the cabinet carefully. I can't point to the exact thread, but I've read on this forum that someone's mixer made it only by a hair (she had not checked in advance), others said they installed only to discover their mixer was too tall for the placement they chose. I think it works out fine as long as the appliance's height is considered before installation. If you are interested on other threads on the topic in this forum, you'll get more results by doing a google search for: gardenweb appliance lift....See MoreIf you have a 'Heavy Duty Mixer Lift' . . .
Comments (9)I love it, but my kitchen is only a few weeks old. I am not a fan of things on the counter. I loathed using the mixer previously because it required lugging it out of a corner cabinet. I looooooove how convenient this set up makes my mixer. It is easy to lift and put back away. The hardware does appear to be very heavy duty and the stability is fine. To use, I pull the front of the board the mixer is sitting on. It lifts up very smoothly and when it is lined up with the counter, it automatically locks into place. I then use the mixer in this position. I never move the mixer itself... To release, there are little levers under the board that I pull forward. Then, I guide the mixer into its resting place (although it would do this itself...) Easy! Does your mixer vibrate so much that it moves on the counter to another place?? Mine doesn't............See Morenorar_il
