I love it, but my kitchen is only a few weeks old.

I am not a fan of things on the counter. I loathed using the mixer previously because it required lugging it out of a corner cabinet. I looooooove how convenient this set up makes my mixer. It is easy to lift and put back away. The hardware does appear to be very heavy duty and the stability is fine.

To use, I pull the front of the board the mixer is sitting on. It lifts up very smoothly and when it is lined up with the counter, it automatically locks into place. I then use the mixer in this position. I never move the mixer itself...

To release, there are little levers under the board that I pull forward. Then, I guide the mixer into its resting place (although it would do this itself...)

Easy!

Does your mixer vibrate so much that it moves on the counter to another place?? Mine doesn't.........

Thanks so much for your reply lolauren! I wasn't sure whether you were supposed to lift it off the "lift" and onto the counter. . . . your description of how you use it is what I thought would make sense.

When I make bread dough in my mixer, it does vibrate and move on the counter. If it's on for a prolonged time (5 minutes on med-high for a pound cake recipe I have) it also moves a little. Mine is a several year old "Professional 6" model so I also will need to measure it to make sure it fits on the lift.

I couldn't fit one in my kitchen plan, and I like the look of the mixer on the counter (it subliminally makes visitors to my kitchen think that I am a better cook than I actually am!). However, I have a very close friend who has one, and she loves it and highly recommends it. Just wanted to add another reliable positive review to the list.

When we thought we were going to be able to remodel 4-5 years ago, I asked this same question on the cooking forum. I thought those (mostly) ladies might have had them longer and so could tell me how they were working out. As I recall, the opinions were generally favorable. It's worth a shot and they were very nice. :)

Eventually I am going to get an appliance garage built as I don't like things on the counter either. I think I would find a hard time trying to locate a lift in my kitchen, but the idea is an interesting one and they do look neat.

Sounds like they are made well...good luck if you do get one, should be easy to use.

My sewing machine cabinet has the same kind of lift. I have a piece of rubber shelf liner underneath to minimize creeping that works well.

I thought about a lift when designing my kitchen a few years ago but decided against it for two reasons. First, I would lose the drawer above the cabinet that would house the mixer and I really needed that drawer. Second, I am a weekly bread maker and when using the mixer, I always have puffs of flour that I wipe off the counter. And with wet mixtures, sometimes worse than that. These would necessitate cleaning the floor if I had the riser holding the mixer. So instead, I had the cabinet maker measure the mixer to be sure it would fit on the counter, even when under-cabinet lighting installed. I am happy with my decision and agree that having that monster KA mixer out for all to see leaves a good impression!

I had one in a past kitchen and agree with cross stitch. I'd rather wipe a few spills from the counter than the floor.

I love mine.
I'm an occasional user in a furry environment and like the fact that it stays clean in between uses. I've had no issues with the mixer moving off of the lift on its own. It would be an easy manual lift to move the mixer to the countertop on those occasions where you want the piece of mind, since the shelf is already at counter height.
