Please help me with MudRoom Design
Comments (17)Happy to help! make someone happy today! The dim of the washer/dryer that we use are shown on the drawing. I actually had the shower as you want and then I moved it because I thought you'd have more room when you entered the laundry since the shower was supposed to be 3'. If you want to have a bigger mud room bench you can use a pocket door. I draw the wall for the pocket with 2x6 studs for a sturdier wall. Are you using a shower base (you have a lot of sizes to chose from) and then tile the surround or use nudo board or some cultured marble or acrylic to protect walls? If your pets are small you could use a Mop Sink. Most of them are 24"x24" and they come with a hose, you can also plug them to fill it up, they are deep enough and I think you can get and standard protection for the walls. Good luck!...See MoreProblems arranging space in mudroom/laundry area - Please help!
Comments (24)Yeah, a pocket door tucked into that thick doorway space would work nicely! And I agree with keeping the mudroom/laundry area "open" so that light from the window can reach entire area. I suspect you'll find that the washer/dryer don't make enough noise to bother you most of the time. Washers/dryers aren't nearly as noisy as they used to be...unless you're doing something like drying tennis shoes. LOL! They're much better balanced than they used to be and many have "anti-vibration technology" so they don't dance around. Fact is, the vent fan over my cook top makes a whole lot more noise than my washer/dryer. A pocket door that would be totally hidden in a wall you already have anyway should be perfect. Can't wait to see pics when you start building....See MoreFlooring for laundry room/mudroom
Comments (5)I put an epoxy in my garage and love it but not sure I woukd want it in my midroom. I have had vinyl tile but did not like them at all. Why not regular tile. I just put this tile in my midroom and love it. Not expensive. Just from Lowes....See MoreLaundry room/mudroom layout. Please help!!!
Comments (2)Hello althom1 , Nice job on the hand drawing - it's where all the greats started! Quick question first; Can you not go from the utility room directly to the office? I see no door & you asked for suggestions - but are they the same floor level? At a glance it seems you have enough space to fit your full program in. Generally you'd want to keep the loud stuff (washer) as far as possible from the doors to the rest of the house. You'd also want your utility stuffs (vacuum, etc.) closer to the kitchen entry - where you may need them most. 22" deep is plenty for a row of vertical storage (Ikea if you're on a budget) that can house some of that stuff & keep the rest of the place open. It also gives some sound buffering at the office wall. You have an open space right now, & I'd love to help. I give every project a 15 minute assessment, free. Hit me up on my profile. thanks, -f Build Beautiful...See Morenjmomma
