Need help with Google Sheets App

I am a newbie to Googel Sheets App. For the past year I have been doing a spread sheet for an organization that I belong to for their checking account. This morning I went to open it up and it is totally gone! I have looked everywhere including the "cloud". The only thing that I am wondering if I did was I "cleaned" (disc clean up and defrag) my PC yesterday using the accessories on my HP PC which uses Windows 7. There are a couple of preleminary sheets from when I originally set the sheet up but not the most current. I last used the sheet and updated it was a month ago. It is always there when I open up my sheets app. What could have happened?

Google Apps (or any other cloud app) definitely have their place and many find them useful. But I have to ask...do you need to access this spreadsheet from multiple locations and/or devices? If the answer is no, then IMHO there is really no substitute for saving any file to the local machine where you will be using it instead of the "cloud". There is plenty of free office software available along with free templates to create a checking account. Libre Office is just one suggestion. And if you can't afford to lose such a file, saving a copy (or two) with a different filename/location is a lot easier than losing the only copy of the file. It's probably too late to worry about how it could have happened.

This is like asking "where did I leave my door key?". I don't think there's any way to help from afar.

The good news is that if this spreadsheet was an analysis of a checking account, nothing was really lost except the time spent doing the spreadsheet. The information is still available from the bank, however that's accessed.

An easy way to replicate the spreadsheet analysis would be to download the transactions from the bank's website. Most every bank site has this feature, to download a file of account transactions that can easily read by a spreadsheet program. Easier to move around, reformat and structure transactions already in the spreadsheet than to input each transaction manually. I also agree that using a program like Libre Office is probably a better way to do it.

The more important a file is, the more places a backup/duplicate copy should be kept. For my really important files, I have them in at least 4 physically different places, including a copy in a bank vault. Less important, 3. SD cards and thumb drives are cheap insurance. Free programs can automate the backup task. Good luck.

Alrighty! *S* The card was made using a sheet from a wallpaper sample book (neat idea,huh?) and this is the front of it. This is the inside with the page from a Hymnal. In all honesty, I think I could have done better, but it DID give me some ideas!*S* Funny think is, I don't have a clue who the person is that sent it! lol She signed her name and initals under it! Took me a bit to figure THAT out..but it's the Church where Ronnie and I got married. Uh...I haven't attended that Church in over 40yrs!

Unfortunately, relying on other people to interpret and describe colors is just about as tough as deciding from other online sources. If you can't shop in person, then I'd pick the ones that look the closest to what you're envisioning and see if you can order just pillow cases (easier and less expensive to return). Or find a source that has a generous return policy, maybe free shipping, free returns?

I've used Live Interior 3D Pro for a few projects now -- moving furniture around a room virtually and getting a feel for what a kitchen remodel would look like. I have been quite happy with the product. It's fairly quick, stable, the developers are still at least somewhat interested in the product, and objects (furniture, fixtures, etc.) which they don't provide can be downloaded as Sketchup objects. Yes, I move each crop down one bed so it's a few of years before the same plant is in the same soil. At least in theory. What happens in practice, of course, is that I see a space and stick something in or have some plants left over and put them in the 'wrong' bed. I let things self sow and they don't always put themselves in the 'correct' bed and I also put salads into any spare spot regardless of which bed it is. In my climate one bed can have 3 different crops in it from November to November. And often there are two things in a bed at once. Favas for example with baby winter Brassicas in amongst them waiting for when the Favas are cut down and the nitrogen in their root nodules returns the the earth. Then as the Brassicas start to go over the next spring I might pop in some lettuces and then have runner beans or zucchini ready to go in amongst them. Successional, inter- and catch cropping. A garden plan needs to work in the dimension of time as well as space.

Lea: If you access your Sheets via Google Drive, then look along the left side of the Drive page for "Recent" and click on that. Your file may show up there. My recent file shows files from "Earlier this week", "Earlier this month", and "Earlier this year".
