need washer and dryer advice
Comments (1)Without knowing some of the basics it's impossible to recommend anything. What kind of capacity do you need? Do they need to match? (Buying non-matching can get you far better value). Do you need a heater? FWIW, Amana (and Maytag, JennAir and all Maytag brands) are now Whirlpool, which is good. So keep that in mind as you shop....See MoreNeed 2 washers & 2 gas dryers. Comments (4)no mine are not stacked but they do have the kit to stack them I saw on their website. I have done loads of various sizes and all in all the time is pretty close to what it was on my old top loaders, on the FL the wash takes longer in general I would say 50 mins but the dryer is very fast so takes much less time there. I usually dry mine on the less dry setting and even when doing a load of sweats and towels only had 2 items that had to be put back for a few more minutes. Yes I do my sheets and comforters, I follow the advice from the website and add some towels in with it so that there is less twisting. I have not had any problems with wadding or twisting so far. I had been worried about it since I read so much about that happening, but in reality it always happened in my old set so I expected it to happen in the new ones to some degree. Mine are set on my tile floor which is on a solid concrete foundation and I have no vibration. I do not have pedestals....See MoreKenmore HE3t Front loading washer & dryer - advice please
Comments (5)Blackbelt consumer: Sorry to hear of your bad encounter with Sears. You know, when I first got those machines home and tried them on, I already felt that something wasn't "kosher." I guess we bought in to the sales talk too quickly. We never learned our lesson dealing with Sears. We got a Kenmore dishwasher. It was a smaller capacity one, but cost more. We got it because of space limitation. Before the year was up, it already had problem--the water spinner broke--it melted away! And of course the warranty period was over too. So, I was thinking to myself how could Sears sell such a shoddy product! Anyway, Sears will be history for me too. spark823: Thanks for the heads up on LG. Interesting thing is that a few people in this forum seem to have positive things to say of it, but of course until the problem becomes a problem, it's always ok. In all fairness, all things will have problems some day, but if the problems become evident too soon, then the product is no better than the top loaders. They seem to last for years. Only difference is its energy saving feature, but I wonder how much savings is worth looking into, considering all inconveniences one has to go through. By the way, I do use the new detergent that is made for front loaders. laudrytech: The only thing with our set is that we have installed a new vent, so there's no kink or clog as far as we can tell. Also, the machine being so new, there isn't any residue around the door. That said, I will look out for the helpful things you suggested for future trouble shooting though. Guys, I have learned something here and want to thank each one of you for taking the time to respond. Meanwhile, I've been thinking of reverting back to good old days--with the top loaders. Any models to recommend? Stackable ones are preferred. Thanks so much once again and have a good evening....See MoreNeed help buying a Washer & Dryer - Sears sale has great prices
Comments (5)I have LG front loaders with the steam -- purchased because it was the only model that came in the blue we liked and we'd had such an awful time dealing with Whirlpool that we treated ourselves. I have used the steam feature in both, but I can't say it is something I needed. I do like the machines, the way they clean and the fact that they work quietly and efficiently (the loads are large!). I think you can get the model just below them with essentially all the same features but without the steam and fit your budget. You may not be able to get some of the Sear's super deals price matched at other stores. Best Buy told me they would be losing money and I've hear that elsewhere too. I think Sear's must have made some super buying deals to gear up for this. Factor in delivery and other charges as well as a service agreement (if you plan to get one -- I did not) and make sure you compare your bottom line when trying to price match. Sears tends to run higher on delivery and service agreements....See MoreToronto Veterinarian
