Living Room Progress...
Comments (18)You have made some great changes! Nice 'shopping' in your house! I am not crazy about the iron piece - it just doesn't seem to fit in the room with the rest of the decor, which feels more traditionally elegant. What I might try is the chair with the arms over on the wall where the iron piece is now. Use the green stool table beside it, on the right side of the chair (near the angle wall). The armless chair would be better, I think where there is less open space, where the armchair was. Hard to tell for sure about the size of the two tall framed pieces, but I would try them on this wall behind the chair. I think they might be a nice balance for the windows Switch the two end tables, so the larger one with the wider lamp is near the armless chair in its new location. That will put the smaller table and lamp on the left of the couch, so that the plant doesn't feel so jammed in the corner (pull that out a few inches from the corner as well) I would move the sconces and plates off the mirror wall. I don't think they work in proportion to the mirror, and kind of fight with the lamps on the end tables. I would instead move them over to the angle wall, hang them offset of one another. A bookcase below would be wonderful, with perhaps that clock from the original room pix on top of it, and another pretty plant....See MoreLiving room...work in progress :)
Comments (7)Thank you All :) grandmaof3: wow what a great idea, didn't cross my mind at all, but I'd need a different TV stand, this one is 2" too wide (but that gives me an excuse to look for a closed one that will fit perfectly (LOL), the TV itself will fit right in . polly929: the Expedit is a bit deeper than the bookcase I have right now , but the possibility of hiding toys in bigger boxes is thrilling :) The bookcase is secured to the wall, we'll do the same with the tall cubbies, no worries! Glad to hear orange will look OK here, if I decide to do curtains, do I put the same exact ones on all windows though? Thought of orange Ikat print, not sure if that would be to much? I think mounting TV would be too much, but moving it to the corner is easier and more doable :) dedtired: that would be perfect for separating the entrance, as we have no entry area whatsoever, but I'd be very afraid of my toddler running into it :( pricklypearcactus: Thank you, the older rug didn't match the space too well, was to light, and after I put the coffee table on it, it looked even more off..I fell in love with the chevron, it definitely is staying for a while! I'll work on getting the TV cabinet that fits in the space and move the TV (the two walls are not even, as one would expect... The lamp looks very lonely and off in the corner next to the sofa, I think it's too flimsy, it looks way better tucked behind the chair (a new lamp in the works? :)) aktillery: Thanks :), I was thinking of making this table and painting it orange (cinnabar which is deep reddish orange), not sure it would be too much though http://ana-white.com/2010/11/step-side-table The rug is from rugsusa.com, I suspect it's the same rug though, similar price. The reviews on their website were either really good or bad, I'm very happy with it and got it for half price, they have 50% off sales fairly often :)....See MoreLiving Room In Progress (lots of pics)
Comments (4)Lynn, you're right - you can barely see the color of the chair by the window in these pictures! It's funny - in a way that's kind of accurate. The fabric sample was a very pretty light green, but on a large area (esp. by the window) the color kind of washed out. One of the things I like about the pictures over the media console is that they draw the color out and make the chair seem greener, somehow. Thanks, Loribee - isn't the ottoman cute? ;-) I got it at a great price at Overstock. I use it by the door to throw my bag on when I come in, but I'm actually thinking of getting another one (maybe a round one) to put in the living room... Anyway, posting another picture of the chair that I hope shows the color better. That's a piece of the drapery laid over the chair. Also posting a mockup I did that tries to show the parrot green dining chair with the rest of the stuff. Green chair looking a little more green? Mockup with picture, table & parrot green dining chair...See MoreDining Room Reno: Progress Pics!!
Comments (21)Dprisock: thanks for the pic of your chandelier . . . it's gorgeous! Do you think you might add shades to it? The reason I ask is that my current chandy has the candle lights that face up, like yours, and I've always been frustrated with the light it gives off for our evening meals. I've considered adding shades to mine, but now plan to just replace it instead. Susan, no, the chandelier isn't centered to the room. We did that on purpose so that we wouldn't have to walk around the table to get to the living room. It actually looks great IRL. The room's wide enough to keep the table off center. Kim, good call on a darker chandy to add more weight and presence. I see your point and agree. Sundial: another New Mexican??? How cool! What part, if I may ask? Valinsv: thanks for the link. I love it and am having a hard time tearing myself away from it. Tish, I agree about the visual weight. With our cream colored walls and whitewashed ceilings, the pewter is disappearing. Red: thanks. Good points all. I answered you over on GI. Lynn...See MoreJanie
