I'm new. You guys are awesome and I need help
Comments (15)Welcome Loisgriffin! It's so exciting to build and yet a daunting task to pick everything out. There is also a building forum if you ever have questions on construction or general building help. All of these forums have been invaluable to me since we built a year ago. Here is a link to the Building Forum I'll also give you a link to the Bedroom Gallery If you look near the top of the page, you'll see a button that says "Switch to galleries" and there all all kinds of threads over on that board that show pictures of paint colors, specific rooms and inspirational ideas. The bedroom style you are describing is pretty close to mine. I have Restoration Hardware furniture with a dark finish, Cappuccino colored walls and dark beige carpet. This combo (I hope) will allow me to change the bedding fairly easily since it's fairly neutral. In fact, the bedding we have is 10 years old and we always think about changing but haven't found something we both love yet. Here's my color scheme. This paint is a tad darker than it appears in this photo. ;c) Good Luck building and happy decorating! Lindy...See MoreCompletely OT (but I knew you guys would answer, and I need help
Comments (5)I'm actually a dermatologist in my other life. First statement: you can't make a diagnosis or treat patients over the internet. He needs to see a doctor, today preferably. I don't think a GW Kitchen forum, no matter how great, is the place to get advice! Best thing which is so often neglected would have been a swab culture from the area at the initial visit, before treatment was initiated, for both bacteria, and also herpes simplex, if they really suspected "cold sores," though that's quite rare in that location. Many do what you doc did, which is to treat empirically with Bactrim, a drug that covers probably 98% of all staph including MRSA. Failure to respond certainly could indicate that this was not staph, or the incredibly rare case of Bactrim resistant staph. Equally likely, as we see this all the time, is that he's doing fine and that what you interpret as "not better" actually is improved to an expert's eye. Because of your concern, and even more so if other symptoms are present (fever, chills, red streaking, swollen lymph nodes, pus draining, etc etc) a recheck is indicated and I woudl press to get bacterial and HSV cultures if they think it's a consideration. Maybe you can guilt your derm into seeing him if he's worse. PS: staph is almost certainly acquired at school, not in the temp kitchen....See MoreHi guys, I am new to worms. need advice!
Comments (3)If it stinks and it's had no drainage, it's gone anaerobic, which is bad. If the worms are multiplying it means there's enough air for them to breathe and some useful microbes for them to eat, which is good. Possibly your best option is to mix that nasty old stuff in with your new bedding (dry) and let it soak up and redistribute all that excess moisture. Make sure the new setup is open enough to allow air flow and water drainage, and do not pack down the bedding. The familiar smell and taste should help to convince the worms their new setup is home (reducing escape attempts), and with the increased oxygenation those smelly anaerobic bacteria should die off. This will leave the good guy aerobic bacteria also in there to take over and expand, providing plentiful food for your worms and no nasty smells for you. This doesn't just apply to moving from a bin in poor conditions to a new one, trying to clean up bad microbes or rescue sick homeless worms. It's always a good idea to mix some Living Material - that is, something infested with bacteria, fungus and protozoa involved in decomposition - into the bedding and food of a new bin. Worms don't really eat solid food, they suck up the slurry of microbes on food and bedding and anything broken down enough to come with it. You want to get those microbes in there eating and breeding so it's a suitable place for the worms to live and eat. Hint: don't feed your worms right away. Overfeeding is an easy and common way to kill worms, and to flood the bin (most foodstuffs contain water which is released as it breaks down). As long as it's microbially active and breaking down, they can just eat their bedding to keep going. Give them some time to settle in and rebalance the microbe population before you start giving them richer material to process....See MoreDesign Help for Guy’s Apartment
Comments (38)Okay, this "I want it to be as cold and soft as possible" Is "cold" a typo? If is it...this one has good reviews and is a good price...https://www.amazon.com/Linenspa-Infused-Memory-Mattress-Topper/dp/B01MRL0H2B/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=memory+foam+topper&qid=1553028255&s=gateway&sr=8-3 What your room is more triangular than rectangular, and I would say about 15x15x20? Somewhere on the listing there's a plan so just copy that and show us... Anyway...why not put the tv on your dresser... For the bathroom, do you have any favorite black and white photos? I think black and white is classy (plus stuff is easy to find anywhere and inexpensive) and you can have either white towels that you can bleach, or black towels that won't show---anything....See MoreSeldens Furniture
