The truth is that you do not use the crib set for all that long. My kiddos were into twin beds by the time they were 18 months and a year! LOL They didn't like being confined in the crib. Unless you wash the stuff to death (I know it will need washed but it's HOW you wash it), it will last for the time you need it to, even if your kids stay in the crib longer than mine. I didn't buy a whole set either time. I mixed and matched items from different stores and sets to get the look I wanted. That way you can add in different colors and designs without being limited. Think out of the box. Come up with a color scheme by using other colors that will compliment the reds in the bedding and go for it! Cute set, by the way!

The painting is done. We went with SW Rain. It was the closest to that blueish-tealish-silver color (last image in this thread). The ceiling is Topsail which is the lightest color on the strip. Looks wonderful! Unfortunately (ha ha) she wants to put all her stuff back in (all sorts of odds and ends- posters, a bulletin board with a million scraps of paper on it that are all important, a few stuffed animals, random photos, makeup, tropys from when she was little, a Christmas wreath with sentimental meaning, etc.) I could make it look so cute with the right accessories, but she's unwilling to part with all this stuff. Oh yea, there are cords going everywhere from her chargers, Ihome, and other electronics. So I guess it won't be a designer room!

I don't know if Pottery Barn is too spendy - but have a look at their selection of linen bedding. Duvet covers and coverlets in really lovely neutrals colours and coordinates. All of these items come in several colours so you can put together a look that suits you and would work with your furniture choices. The pictures came in as the main photo from the item, not necessarily in colours I am recommending for your room. Some items come in as many as 7 or 8 colours. You're spoiled for choice. The trick to the really full looking duvets that you see in Advertising is layering more than one duvet inside the cover. It would suit me to have more than one duvet all the time, but it sure wouldn't suit my husband. Pottery Barn used to have a visualizer tool so you could put your choices together and see what the end result would look like. I don't see it online but maybe I missed it.

Just wanted to circle back-- the bedding arrived early this morning and just in time as I had oral surgery today. I wanted new fluffy bedding to recover in. Unfortunately, I accidentally (not sure HOW) purchased the comforter instead of the duvet cover. It was going to be bulky and a PIA to return so I just put it on the bed. I do wish it was a duvet but I couldn't deal with it this am. The great new is I absolutely love the pattern-- it is so much prettier in person and it looks great with my grey owl walls (but most everything does). I waited to order the quilt to be sure I liked the leaf pattern-- so now that I do like it, I should order a quilt. The green velvet one will work-- the blue will not. I am also considering a pattern-- i have a few days of recovery at home so plenty of time to look around.
