Last minute bath redo-help with color
Comments (5)Who knew you could paint tile? (obviously several others besides me. LOL) Just back from the hardware store. Blue is going to be painted white. I'll prime the walls white, see how it looks. If I think I'll like it, I'll just paint white (Ive never had a white room) and accessorize with brighter colors. If I don't think I'll like the white, I'll prime grey over that and see what color strikes me when BM opens tomorrow. Mildred, I've got to get this room finished by tomorrow night, since I'm having company tuesday and then out of town for the rest of the week. We'll tear all the tile out in the spring, so as tempting as it is, no sense doing it twice. Thanks all for the advice...I had no idea. :/...See MoreHELP! Bailing on Carrera tile at last minute - how crazy is this?
Comments (18)Thanks for your thoughts...it just goes to show there are lots of ways to do this kitchen. I do really like that tile with Organic White but too cold overall for me...and I don't love it with the fabric but my designer does. She fired me today. She is frustrated because she is "not getting to design". I chose not to bring up the fact that since day one I have been saying I want a white kitchen and ever since that she has been trying to talk me out of it. She also hates my farm table - says it's "been done". She wants me to do an industrial table - (IMHO, also "been done" ) and I did flirt with the whole marble/industrial look but in the end, not for me. Ooops, wrong person to guide me. So the moral of this story seems to be..."To Thyself be True"...but don't do it with Buttermilk Ceasarstone. I think everyone is right - it will look dirty with the white - I am now thinking Organic White or Blizzard -the two whites I loved from the beginning. I am going to find a tile that I can get quickly. Yes, forgive my former designer, a white tile. Then, after a few less painless decisions, (hardware, stools...), before I get my kitchen back, I will get my life back. Can't wait!...See MoreLast minute design change and side by side fridge - HELP!
Comments (6)The peninsula can't be shortened at all, rather than a whole redo on the plan? You might have to call someone or visit the fridge in the store to find the answer you need. When I was planning placement for mine, I had to call our trusted salesman to measure for me, because the specs didn't include how far back the door needed to open in order to get drawers past the door racks, etc. I don't think the number of degrees it is able to open necessarily helps you know what the minimum space you need beside it....See MoreHelp, another last minute decision
Comments (6)Thanks all. My decision is made, I am going to hold down the three wall cabinets, but I still have the weekend to change my mind. I figure, if I hate it, I can always have a small cabinet built on top to raise them to the ceiling. I do have a plan for the space on top of the cabs. Ever since seeing a carved wooden pig in a shop in China Town, I have been on the lookout for something similar. I also have a collection of maneki nekos that might look good up there. So, something sculptural that might just need a going over with a feather duster. Regarding the range, leave your envy for someone with a glass induction range top. It takes me a half hour to clean the top after cooking dinner, and I'm not even a messy cook. When that hunk was installed I looked at it (I swear it was looking at me too) and almost burst into tears. I thought, why didn't I get a simple cooktop, and not some machine that I have to read through a book to learn how to use. But now I love it. I learned by twisting knobs and checking for the smell of gas....See Moresloyder
