Good afternoon deedles, My cabinets are full overlay and I have a Bosch paneled dishwasher. The panel is flush with the fronts of the cabinets on each side of it. I do have a bit more space on the right side of the dishwasher than the left but that is because of the way the curved cabinet was made. I think the dishwasher panel could have been made wider (it is flush with the edges of dishwasher door). If it was wider it could have covered some of that extra space. I read somewhere that the panel should be made 1/4 inch less than the width of the opening rather than the exact width of the dishwasher. The litlle extra gap on the side didnt bother me enough to have the panel remade. Maybe someday I will have it remade though, because the cabinet maker also put a stile in the middle of the panel even though I don't have stiles in the middle of my cabinet doors. Nobody has noticed that until I point it out but sometimes I think I should have changed it. Here are a couple pictures of my paneled DW

Maggiepie & NYC - Thank you both for the input on the overhang and 'liveability'. I think I will stick to my guns on the 15" - I am 6'1" with a 34" inseam - and DH is 6'3" with a 28" inseam! I will probably appreciate the deeper overhang more than he will. NYC - Thanks for referencing your kitchen thread. How beautiful! You must be thrilled with it! I love all your selections. I went with different brands but similar appliance choices. Getting the Advantium and hope to use it partially as a second oven too, 42" SxS SZ, 36" 6 burner Wolf (gas). In hindsight I could have spent more time in the planning stages for this remodel but as a CT resident who is sitting in my office looking at the Brooklyn Bridge to the North - I think you can imagine where a lot of my time goes! ;0) How deep is your new overhang? Do you know how they supported it? Meyers- That is exactly what I needed to hear! What is your counter material? Granite? The fabricator I am working with comes recommended by my cabinet maker who seems to have a real "craftsman" mentality - measure twice & cut once - but you never know until you know. Still not sure which way I will go on the counter material. Love the soapstone and have seen it in action in a friend's kitchen - but have done so much research I am a little frightened of some of the negative comments I have seen. So much of this is a leap of faith! To add to my stress levels - DH is travelling for two weeks, DS (11yo) got picked up from daycamp with a mild concussion yesterday and is being 'cocooned' (no tv, video games, cognitive stimulus for 48hours and probably no camp until Tuesday!), humidity is extending drying times for the cabinet finishes significantly according to the CM so work in my house may not begin until the 22nd (originally planned for this week) at which time I will be away on vacation, the new appliances are arriving on Monday and I am planning to have them take away the current fridge and disconnect the old range and microwave (which, by the way, I had to purchase in November two days before Thanksgiving JIT to host 22 for dinner thanks to Sandy and electrical problems with the old one) which will put me without cooking capabilities for the duration (I do have a back-up fridge in the garage) and... wait for it.... my mother and stepfather have decided to arrive from SC for three or four days on Sunday! Thank you all for bearing with my ramblings! I needed a good rant.

Thanks for your thoughts...it just goes to show there are lots of ways to do this kitchen. I do really like that tile with Organic White but too cold overall for me...and I don't love it with the fabric but my designer does. She fired me today. She is frustrated because she is "not getting to design". I chose not to bring up the fact that since day one I have been saying I want a white kitchen and ever since that she has been trying to talk me out of it. She also hates my farm table - says it's "been done". She wants me to do an industrial table - (IMHO, also "been done" ) and I did flirt with the whole marble/industrial look but in the end, not for me. Ooops, wrong person to guide me. So the moral of this story seems to be..."To Thyself be True"...but don't do it with Buttermilk Ceasarstone. I think everyone is right - it will look dirty with the white - I am now thinking Organic White or Blizzard -the two whites I loved from the beginning. I am going to find a tile that I can get quickly. Yes, forgive my former designer, a white tile. Then, after a few less painless decisions, (hardware, stools...), before I get my kitchen back, I will get my life back. Can't wait!

i prefer side by side, but i fold out of the dryer and stack on top-- way easier than dumping and folding, imo!! :) i would be ok with stacked if i didn't fold out of the dryer because i'm fairly tall... tho, in the winter i also sometimes put towels on top of the washer/dryer and lay sweaters on top of them to dry... i love my pedestals- 15.5"tall- and they are stuffed! i have numerous different types of detergent, bleach, stain remover bottles, etc, etc under the washer and dryer sheets and extra towels and rags and a bunch of other stuff under the dryer... i have had cabinets above my w&d in previous homes and it doesn't work great for me because i stack clothes, etc on top and don't always immediately remove- then to get in the cabinets, i have to pull over a stepstool and remove what's on top of the w&d to get into the cabinet. open shelves definitely would be easier! if you put up shelves, i would make them 18" deep.
