That's going to be a lot of yellow in a two-story foyer. It's bright, it's clear, and with a LRV of 76 you know it's going to be very, let's say, "reflective". If you've tested it thoroughly and know that's what you want, then go for it. I'd be suggesting something like Golden Lab #178 instead. Because once it's up, Golden Lab is going to echo Golden Honey's intensity. Golden Honey when up will feel like the intensity of something like Squish-Squash. However you decide to proceed, just remember the key to choosing a golden yellow is test, test, test and test it some more.

Am contemplating doing this type of project in our house. Our 2-story foyer is just a waste of space and I'm not a fan. I'd like to close it off and have it become the master bedroom's walk in closet. I'd keep the big window but put up a privacy curtain. Our current master closet could then be closed off and re-opened from the bedroom on the other side - allowing my daughter to have a walk-in closet. We'd then tear down the walls of her current closet which would give her more floor space in her room. I don't think we'd lose anything on resale because the new master closet would be twice the size of our current one, AND the added bonus of another bedroom also having a walk-in closet.

I have a few more options. What do you think? Palimpsest, I did the one panel like you suggested and fixed the heights. I also like the idea of doing sort of a raised panel look, either in the color of the trim (with everything the same color) or else in the color of my book cases so it could mimic the book cases on the other wall (they will be stained blue) Any of these options look good? If I went with option 4 or 5, I'd probably have the paneling look more like this than exactly like above: Either painted trim color or painted in the blue.

Hi there! I’m in a similar situation, except that our 2 story foyer faces north and doesn’t get much light. The floors are a white oak stained walnut. The adjacent north facing family room will be painted BM stonington gray (to complement the south facing dining room, which will be painted BM Newburyport Blue). I was planning on painting the foyer and upstairs hallway BM Wickham Gray. But after reading several articles about northern exposure, I’m second guessing the Wicham Gray. Trying to keep all the light in, and not darken the entry. Any suggestions / thoughts for the 2 story foyer??
