Pressure canner - I messed up

I made a big mistake yesterday. I didn't have enough water in my pressure canner. I had three minutes left on the required time when the canner quit putting out the steam through the weighted gauge. I didn't want to ruin my canner so I cut if off immediately in fear of making an even bigger blunder than what had just happened. After I opened the canner there was actually a little bit of water in the bottom still so I think (hope) my canner isn't ruined.


Is it safe to eat the meat do you think? Will it be safe to reuse those jars? I'm really worried about the safety of the meat so taking and accepting the total loss (money, food & time) seems to be the best option.
