Bedroom Almost Complete
Comments (6)I could go either way on the lamps. They do look better in the room than in the pic. And they have a nice bronze-brown base that compliments the other colors. Thanks for the compliments. I have a lot of color in the other rooms and stay home with 3 kids 5,4,1. I needed a very calm place at the end of the day ;)...See Morebedroom furniture dispute complete
Comments (54)My guest bedroom has been painted a medium lavender for about 12 years and I'm ready to go lighter. It's the same size as your bedroom with one large window facing east. There's a queen honey pine bed, nightstand, and large dresser. The comforter is white with watercolory lavender and teal flowers, dust ruffle is white, and curtains are white. But it still feels dark on all but a sunny summer morning. It's the only time the kitties go in the room for a nap, so they're a good judge of ambiance in my book. Maybe you see the sun more than I do, but I need more light in my life! Tibbrix has said that dark rooms are cozy. But she has also said chocolate and other dark colors work when there's not much wall space to paint. It has to be broken up with windows, art, furniture, etc. If the drapes are staying, you've already got your color palette. Merry Christmas! Comments (19)Hi Marina- I love your rug, please keep it. Rather than buying a whole new bed, you can keep the one you have and just turn up its appeal with a headboard that you attach, and better bed linens. For a headboard that won't be too expensive, look at the recent catalog from Bed Bath and Beyond. They have several in different colors and materials. You can get one in white or off white, or get a rich blue. https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/category/furniture/bedroom-furniture/headboards/14474/ Here are just a few of theirs It is very difficult to make a bed with a foot board. You will also turn up the wow factor if you get an upholstered bench (fabric to match your headboard or leather) to put at the foot of the bed. You can sit on it to put on your shoes or get dressed. Some of them are made with storage inside so you can use that for extra shoes and boots, or for linens and extra blankets. You definitely need to get a mattress cover for each of the box springs to protect them from dust and dust mites. Also, get a dust ruffle to make the bed look "dressed." You can get one that look more tailored or one with a ruffle, which ever is your preference. I would get a comforter that is larger. The one you have looks too small for the size bed that you have. You want one that comfortably drapes over the sides of the bed. A bed looks luxurious with more pillows, so I suggest you get two European pillows, which are large square pillows, and you want three of them on a king bed, two on a queen. You want the pillow to be 28" on each side so that they plumply fill a 26" sham. These are the pillows that are decorative and stand up against the headboard. Don't fiddle a little decorative pillows, they are a hassle to take off when you go to bed and to put back in the morning, and they drive men nuts. Just get the European pillows because along with the other pillows, you need them and make the bed look and feel luxurious. You also need 4 of the regular pillows that you sleep on, two for each of you. If it is a king bed, most people get king pillows, so each pillow will reach halfway across the bed, and you put one pillow on top of each other, either flat, or arranged slightly at an angle. The European pillows are arranged vertically against the headboard. Some people choose to keep the shams covering the European pillows the same color as the pillow covers, and others choose to use a decorative pattern or color. If you want to have all your bed linens in the same color family, you can add more interest there by adding some texture in the pillow shams on the European pillows, and adding a an extra textured coverlet folded at the foot of the bed. Ugg makes a wonderful line of textural bed linens and pillow covers that is sold exclusively at Bed Bath and Beyond. It's not cheap, but it's worth a walk into the store to give you some ideas. And of course a velvet headboard is just marvelously textured. These days we are all so busy, many of us don't bother with the formal bedspread, and just spread out a large comforter over the bed. In your room you have the color accent from your marvelous rug, and I do suggest you get some art on the wall with colors that pick up from the rug. Also, don't forget a live plant. Coleus is a marvelous indoor plant that doesn't need a lot of light and it has red in it which will work well with your rug. Don't buy lamps until you get your bedside tables because you want your lamps to be the right height....See MoreWhich throw to complete my summer look guest bedroom?
Comments (10)what a fun room! I'd go with a first throw..I like to combine patterns. Flowers plus checkboard..real cool. and I like how many colors the first one has inside. Almost all colors you have in the room already. And it is so cozy-looking. You can't really go wrong with any option-but first is my favorite...See More- 5 years agoUser thanked beckysharp Reinstate SW Unconditionally
