Love, love, love the Trader Joe's dark chocolate peanut butter cups

I had to run into Target for a couple of things this afternoon and looked for my favorite, Reese’s Pieces. Nothing! Then I thought about buying a slab of Lindt dark chocolate with orange but didn’t. So I was a good girl and bought nothing. Where is all the Reese’s Pieces candy?

I find I am losing my taste for most candy. The ones I used to like have changed and not for the best. Rocky Road candy bars have taken the center layer of chocolate out, Hersheys is awful with their reformulation, UNO bars may as well be Three Musketeer bars for all the unique nutty flavor they no longer have, anything Brach's is blech now. Even Lifesavers have been corrupted.

I would rather have a piece or two of good candy from a box. I love chocolate covered caramels. Sometimes I like salt water taffy if it's fresh. I also like Swedish Fish. I also like imported Turkish Delight.

Ok, if there is a bowl of miniature Halloween candy, I go for Heath bars, Baby Ruth, Almond Joy and Hersey Semi sweet.

If you mean a candy that I would buy for me, easy chocolate covered sra salt caramels

I'm sure there's superior chocolate I haven't tried, but I love the melt-in-your-mouth texture and taste of Dove chocolates.

I forgot about Turkish Delight but I really only like the type flavored with rosewater and lemon with pistachios in it. I really need to go to World Market or one of the Indian stores to find it.

It may only be at one of my local oriental stores but one of mine had miniture Kit Kats by Nestle rather than Hershey's. They are so much better than the stuff that is made in the US.

I love the imported chocolates like Lindt and Cadbury's and a host of Belgian or German companies that beats the heck out of Hershey bar chocolate. Our local Nebraska company makes Baker's Chocolate meltaways that are to die for in about 15 different flavors (trade you an assortment for a rose, heh-heh-heh). Beyond pure chocolate, my guilty pleasure would be Jelly Belly jellybeans. Among typical packaged Halloween candy, the only one that's MINE and I don't give out to kids would be Take 5 bars.

If I was pawing through the Halloween candy, I'd go straight for the M&Ms and Reese's. My friend gave me a bag of dark chocolate Lindor truffles, those get shared with no one, ever.

Found some coffee flavored candies at Trader Joe's a while ago. I've since gone back for more bags. They are chewy candy but I don't chew them, afraid of losing a crown.

I buy the mini bars and eat one occasionally. I like some of the old school stuff like pixie sticks, twizzlers, Costco has some macadamia nut turtles that are very good. I am not a big sweet eater. Leftovers will be in the pantry a year later if I don't give it to someone. I love hard coffee candy.

It would be easier to list the ones I don't like. Here is the list...…….fruit flavored candy. That's it!

Cookies are my weakness! I'm not much of a candy eater, although if it is in front of me I will eat my share! I just never buy it otherwise. Halloween is the only time. Hard to name a favorite, I think I like Almond Joy, Mounds, Take5, BabyRuth equally well but never crave them. When I was a kid I was very fond of Chunky bars and Slo-Pokes. I haven't looked for them in a long while, but Trader Joe's used to have really good chocolate covered almonds. I guess really good chocolate similar to Belgian is my favorite.

I became rather fond of Halvah during my trip last year though; I never knew it to be flavored in so many ways. I brought some home to my DD that was rosemary (IIRC) she said it was amazing.

You know it always amazed me that something so delicious can also taste TERRIBLE if sugar isn't added to it. I once tasted a drop of vanilla extract because I thought "it smells great so it must taste great". Boy was I wrong. But add some sugar and a few more ingredients and you have something very delicious. Raw cacao (or cocoa powder) is the same way. It tastes horrible by itself, but after you add some milk and sugar it's delicious. Funny how that works.

These are my downfall. I'll eat plain M&Ms now and then, but these are soooooooooo much better.

Halloween candy? Almond Joy, MnMs. Other candy? Fannie May creams and Frango Mints. Also love picking up Coffee Crisp and Aero bars in Canada.

I can take or leave chocolate.....although I do enjoy an Almond Joy or Mounds from time to time. My favorite candies are fruit jellies, especially candy store types rather than mass marketed named brands. A local candy store sells pink grapefruit flavored jellies that are to die for!! Just the right combo of tart and sweet and with a very intense grapefruit flavor. They also have a black raspberry flavored one that is pretty amazing as well.

I am also very fond of gummi bears!

If I encounter a bag or bowl of leftover Halloween candy, about the only ones that will tempt me are the mini bars of Hershey's special dark chocolate or sometimes Sweet tarts or smarties. I really like chocolate, but don't really consider the waxy, bland, too sweet stuff they use in commercial candy bars to really be chocolate.

my favs when i ate it: reese's, kit-at, twix, take-five, butterfinger, mallo-cups, snickers, mounds, tootsie rolls, dark chocolate covered raisins. , dark choc. covered caramels, any belguim chocolate.....probably more!!

now i just eat 85% or more of dark chocolate or stevia sweetened Lily bars, on my no sugar lifestyle....

Halloween give-out candy: Twix

Indulgent candy bar: PayDay (used to be Milky Way but now those are too sweet for me. Did I change, or did they?)

Waxy candy: Candy Corn, but it has to be corn, not pumpkin or other shape

Fruity candy: raspberry jellies

Favorite "quality" candy: I would almost always choose a turtle -- pecan, caramel, chocolate

Dark Chocolate Bars I consider to be health food, not candy. So I always have one or two or three of the good ones stashed away ;-)

Ghirardelli dark chocolate squares. (Or equivalent quality brand.)

I'm not going to give those out to trick or treaters, but something I'm fine with if there are leftovers are Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. Dark chocolate is better. Most typical Halloween candies (such as Almond Joy) make me feel queasy after eating them. Hershey's tastes like chalk: dark, light or white.

I'd also consider giving out Sweet Tarts, because yes, I'd probably eat those leftovers.

Before I retired, there was a communal bowl of leftover Halloween candy co-workers brought in to share. My last few years in CT I stopped buying candy as I maybe had 3 trick or treaters, and only on good weather days, that would stop by. I lived on a dangerous road and no one wanted to tackle my driveway.

Here in MA there's a communal party for kids the Saturday before Halloween - if I'm not out of town, I'll figure out something to bring. (There's so few people in town that actually trick or treating involves more walking than kids want to do these days.)

I don't eat very much candy. My daughter brings me Trader Joe's truffles, and I like those. My favorite was Napoleon Bonbons. They were disc shaped hard candy with sour powder in the center, but haven't seen any in years.

Commercial candy: Smarties, Hersheys milk chocolate, Rolos, caramel M&Me, Snickers, Babe Ruth, Butterfinger and Rees' peanut butter cups.

Local or homemade: English toffee, chocolate fudge with no nuts, turtles and brown sugar fudge

I also like rock candy and every now and then I've been known to sink my teeth into cotton candy.

I'm also a huge fan of an Australian product known as Tim Tams. I had an Australian friend who would send me some every so often, but lately I've seen them in a few US stores. In my mind, they are kind of a cross between a cookie and candy.

Napoleon Bonbons can be found on Amazon and at several other online candy stores. I had to look because I had not heard of them.

Ferrero Rocher Chocolate covered hazelnuts. Then 2nd, Reeses peanut butter cups.

Dove dark. Nestle Crunch, fun size, with a thin layer of peanut butter on it. M&Ms (or Sugar babies) with popcorn. Junior Mints and York patties. Reese's. Whitman's coconut crunch. Everything in a box of See's nuts and chews.

Truly? All of it. I could live without bread and chips forever, but never without candy. My nemesis! Sigh.

Mounds bars are my favorite. Any decent chocolate will do though. I especially LOVE the dove chocolate with coconut when I can find it (Easter usually?).

Bought my trick-or-treat candy at Walmart today while I was in there for a shower curtain. Big bag of 250 snack size candy bars for $19. Then another of 210 asst. for $14. Then I bought a bag 30 (?) indiv. bagged pretzels. Normally I would end up paying that much at Dollar General for a bunch of smaller bags with not that much variety. That should be plenty. Last year I had a lot of dum-dum suckers and hard candy leftover. This time any leftovers for me will be candy bars! Plus I used part of a $50 gift card I got from a neighbor for cat-sitting.

Schoolhouse, how many kids do you get? We're lucky to get 15 -20.

I participate in my small town church's "Trunk or Treat". Park in the parking lot and pass out candy to ttr's. Plus it's the town's trick-or-treat night as well. There usually about 300+. I start to give two pieces if it looks like I'm going to have some leftover. Oh, and I always buy those bags of indiv. bagged animal crackers for the babies and have a box of small Milk Bone biscuits for the dogs.

I remember when I was a kid one of my neighbors gave out king size bars every year. They gave out stuff like crunch, reese's, butterfinger, etc. That was one house we made sure not to miss lol. Unfortunately they moved away years ago, but every year around Halloween I always think about them. They made my Halloween a little extra special and sweet.
