krislrob, please answer--what is your backsplash tile?
Comments (3)Thanks so much for the compliments. I just sold that house!! I had signed the contract for the granite counters three days before we went into escrow on the one we're building. Anyway, it's a tumbled multi-color slate. That's what it's called and I have seen it several places. We bought ours at Arizona tile. It's a nice combo of the gray tones, black and red with a little tan thrown in. We put the red dragon on the counters and I about croaked because it clashed with the maple cabinets. It all came together with that tile. We used an enhancer on the stone and there's an accent 2x2 black glass tile that's used periodically. If I had realized how the enhancer would darken it (the tile) up, I would have used a darker grout. If you need more specific information, please let me know and I'll dig the box out in the container. Comments (13)I am going to take pictures and upload them later today - headed over there right now - but my builder is suggesting using the 3x6 bullnose on the long edge and running it perpendicular. I know that is how this is usually done in a bathroom but what about a backsplash? Our counters are L shaped with the fridge at one end so this is only an issue at one end (the open one). The other option would be to use another one of their options for trimming it out on the end, like a molding of some sort, but I don't know that they would have one that would work. Any thoughts? Do people usually just run one edge of perpendicular bullnose? I guess theoretically that could be cut down to a super skinny bullnose but that may look even worse. Or a pencil liner???? Comments (1)It is a 1"x2" white venatino marble mosaic tile: We got it at a steal for $7/sqft last year because it was being discontinued. However, Walker Zanger sells a similiar tile in their Tribecca Collection. I've heard it's pricy though. Others that have been interested in my backsplash have found some other online sources at more reasonable prices, but I don't recall their sources......See MoreRelated Professionals
