Hi Bandjzmom, I am in Northeast Georgia and I have never seen Monarchs this time of year either. Always in August. I have had two moms lay eggs on milkweed and I am hoping I don't run out of food! I already bought two new plants and hoping they will grow fast! It is unusual! And wonderful!

I am finding some gravel roads near our farm with tons of milkweed. I am about 10 days behind from last year. Last year I had Monarchs hatching by June 17, this year it will probably be this weekend for my first ones. Thank you for all your nice comments, I admit 300 at a time is a bit too much, I am so tired every day. Last Friday was my day off from work but I devoted 9 hours just to tending to all the catepillars. I can't be doing that all the time, luckily alot of them are now chrysalises so... it is not as bad. I am thinking by mid July we should be seeing alot of Monarchs here, so far I have only seen one here and there but obviously they are here, with all the eggs and catepillars I have found. Course once I release mine will help. I plan on taking alot of photos once I release them so beware! LOL.

Thanks misssherry. I appreciate the offer. However, after sleeping on it last night I figured I had no choice but to let nature take it's course. It would not have been feasible for me to drive up there and now, if you read my above post they are gone. ALL of them! I haven't seen any wasps around the milkweed since our weather cooled off a little--(a lot this morning) and I thought I had read that birds avoided them because they were toxic. Anyway, I guess it will remain a mystery but I am bummed out!

Hi, everyone. I myself just learned something new and wanted to share it. Please be careful planting different types of MW. I've been raising monarch cats for 5 years outside and never ran into this problem until now. I have 4 different types of MW and had eggs laid on all types. The problem is when one ran out. I moved those cats to a new MW plant and they refused to eat it. I moved them again and again with no success. I had to put them on the last of the MW they originally were on and have MW shipped to me over night from E**y. If anyone starts a monarch host garden. Stick with all the same MW or plant a huge amount of each one, because you may have the same problem I'm having now.
