Wishing a Happy Thanksgiving.........
Comments (14)Happy belated Thanksgiving to all my cooking friends in Canada. First time I have ever missed Thanksgiving dinner at home. It was a bit strange if I let myself think of it but given we were in Venice I didn't think of it much! LOL Mind you I did miss the leftover turkey and stuffing sandwich on white squishy bread with Miracle whip S&P! I 'll have to have a belated turkey dinner as soon as we get home just for the leftovers. Ciao !...See MoreCanadian friends, what are you Thanksgiving plans?
Comments (14)Your posts have made me anxious for our Thanksgiving to get here. You will all have such a nice day with wonderful food and family. Pickyshopper, I don't know which holiday people travel "home" for in the States. Good question! Our family always gathered at Thanksgiving and it's still my favorite holiday. Cherryfizz, I was wondering if anyone was having butter tarts. They sounds so yummy! Blfenton, eight people is quite a few--or would be in our little house. Isn't it strange that both our countries have basically the same meal for Thanksgiving? We're all pretty smart--can't think of another meal that tastes better or smells better. Luckygardnr, you don't look old enough to have a grown daughter!!! Wow, what's your secret? Jasdip, (Miss Smarty in the top ten on the trivia game :-) I want to make your turnip puff and have the recipe but did you say you made it with rutabaga? I like rutabaga better, but wanted to double-check. Holy cow, Taigen, you're a better mom than I am. One turkey dinner is enough! I'd be tempted to freeze the leftovers and reheat. That's a lot of work, girl! Good luck with "the meeting" today. Wish I could be in your kitchens just to sniff today. Guess I just have to wait. Sigh!...See MoreThis weekend is our Canadian Thanksgiving...
Comments (22)Momj47--great giggle! Not that either of them looks at all like where I live. An automatically changing by solstice and equinox "seasonal" widget brought it home to me. The sere, gold/brown "Autumn" colors are high Summer (end of June through September) where I live (Southern California), where "fire season" is also important for the propagation of native plants. The new greening is something that happens in Autumn and runs through Spring. We do have mountains, and they do get snow, but it's not a common sight in most of the area. Still, we have the holidays whose decor is dictated by the Northeast. :) Are there parts of Canada that have different looks for the holidays than the greeting card norms?...See MoreHappy Thanksgiving to my Canadian Friends
Comments (15)Thank you for your good wishes, folks. Our thoughts are with the folks of southern Manitoba, where a major storm, including snow and high winds, so serious and widespread that the premier has called a state of emergency, necessitating calling in skilled help from neighbouring provinces and Minnesota to help clear snow and downed trees and power lines: tens of thousands without power, they report. People were advised to avoid travel. ----------------- I'm extra thankful, for I was having trouble with words reduplicating, was dragged back to the head of the thread 3 or 4 times, then to Google offering several links twice, couldn't get back, started the story again, then to be told that I was going incognito. I decided that I must write one sentence, then post and come back to edit. Then I hit the button to show all that I had open, found the latest edition of my story, opened it, came back ... hit "Submit" ... and here I am ... ... editing! ole joyful...See MoreJasdip
