Unless you are going to change your fireplace surround, the surround and your floors are the fixed elements once you remove everything else. The surround looks creamy and the floor slightly gray. Blue would work with those colors. If this room is open to another room you should also be considering what colors are in that room as well. I think looking for a rug first is a good idea. Most furniture stores will have sofas available in about a dozen solid colors so you should be able to find one that goes with the rug. Measure what you have currently before going to the store and think about whether it is the right size for the space. This is your opportunity to get something larger or smaller if that would be an improvement. If you're able to patch the hole in the wall when moving the TV, definitely move it down or just put it on a new console. Pick your wall color last as there are hundreds of different paint colors to choose from. You will have plenty of time to paint while you wait for your new furniture to arrive.

The closet is pretty well organized with winter coats, boots. Gloves. Etc. My kids struggle to not leave shoes in front of the door, so I think hooks and a bench is the only way to go for now. I’m home and measured the LR. The hallway is tile and the LR is hardwood. There’s a transition strip between them. The hall is 6’ wide. The LR is approx 22’x13, I’m not counting the hall in any of my measurements. I measured the space between the bay window from the beginning of the transition strip. There is 7’ of wall space to the left of the window and 6’ to the right. The opening for the DR is 9’. The fireplace, next to the opening is 5’ and the wall from the end of the fireplace to the hall is 8’.
