Design Dilemma entry Home Decorating

need help choosing an entryway light

We have a tall entryway with an original light from 1987 and want to switch it out to match our more traditional / european style decor. Any suggestions? Attached are pics of the entryway, entry table style closeup, and our living room light which is adjacent to the entry and can be seen upon entry via the front door.

I'd choose something that's a bit of a departure from your pretty chandelier, so as not to mimic or compete with its style. A couple of suggestions:

Looking back at your current living room color... I think it looks nice. I think what isn't working for me are the couch pillows. I'd use some that have a slight pattern ( 2 of those) and a solid. I would probably lose the middle pillow. I hope you don't mind my suggestions

RUGS! Need help choosing entry rug and runner! What are the rules?!

THE RULE Is don't make a second post!! Go to a real carpet store, ask to see stair runners that come in 36 inch widths.Have it made to the length you need and backed with non skid. Or look at area rugs in 3 x 5 for the entry if that fits.. No doormat sizes. Ready made runners will be too narrow for your space No to the rug under table. You need an 8 x10 and I doubt that fits. Nothing is far better, than a too small rug.

Are you in an area where snow might be tracked in? If so, consider luxury vinyl plank flooring stead of laminate. Laminate will warp and buckle if drips aren’t wiped up quickly.
