Sectional placement in room
Comments (4)That tis so hard to say without knowing the size of the sectional in relation to the room. I have a similar scenario. Because my room is small and my windows are often covered anyway to be able to view the tv and protect my furniture from the direct sun. We opted to put ours with the long side in front of the window and the short side opposite the fireplace/tv. If I had put the sectional on the open side it would not be inviting. I like a room to say "come sit" and the back to the entry doesn't say this to me. That being said I know there are times that this works very well. So I guess what I am saying is that we need pictures and dimensions please....See MoreNeed help with size/placement of a sectional in living room!
Comments (6)I also happen to like sectionals, but in your living, have to agree with others-will be blocking movement, dictating around, and in the end you won't get the comfy vibe and the great function you rightfully want to get sectionals work when put in the corner..:) mostly so-maybe my idea is completely out of place-but would you consider making your family room your TV watching space?I know you have other plans..and of course depends on needs/wants of your family -you know them, I don't. I can see there's not enough wall space there..in our case, I made the opening to the family room smaller to account for TV placement. and we continue to happily use our sectional (it's not like I'm in love with it, but as I'm a lounge-y person..so yeah, works for me.). Also quieter spot to watch TV if one wishes so If it's completely out of question-I agree with AnnKN's suggestion..the arrangement will be much more flexible, that way...See MoreHelp with GreatRoom: Window Coverings, TV Placement, sectional
Comments (11)Agree to leave TV where it is now. A console at 2/3the width of that wall. I really like your rug but the off white and blue with the white sofa and gray walls isn't working. The rug also needs to be larger. It should extend a foot on either side of the sofa. If you pull the sofa off the wall 6-8" you should be able to get luxurious drapes behind it. I would center the sofa on the windows and move the end table to the other end. Hoping those are the temporary paper construction shades. Replace with solar shades - inside mount if possible - hang the curtain rod 2/3 up the distance from top of window to crown molding and 12" wider than the 3 windows....See MoreHow wide can my sectional sofa be for a 15ft x 15ft room?
Comments (6)Honestly I can’t decipher your floorplan as to where you’re putting TV which I assume is focus for the seating arrangement. That amount of walk space is about width of an door, so it could work, but could feel tight for a high- traffic pathway. Also would not leave you any room for end tables, so you need to be thinking, how does your family use the sitting area— do you plan drinks/ snacks/ pizza , does anyone read books that require task lighting ( very quaint I know , and use of phones/ tablets/Kindles etc make such lighting less important). Will you always use the furniture lined up in a row of 4 people, or do you need a conversation grouping where some seating is at right angles or across from each other? It’s fine if not, and if room is mostly a media viewing arrangement, just think about how you may want to use it. Also depends on style of furniture, how deep, how high are backs regarding blocking views....See More- 5 years ago
