Sectional placement in room

We are buying a leather sectional for our family room which as a chaise as part of the long side. The room has 3 entrances so there is only 1 place that the sectional can go. The longest side would be directly accross the fireplace and tv. My question is should I get the shorter side left or right facing?

If it is right facing the short side is directly across from the fireplace and blocks off the entry to the sectional. You would have to walk around it a bit to go and sit. But it also faces our wall of windows that looks onto our wooded backyard. This scenario doesn't block the windows.

If I go with left facing then the chaise would be across the fireplace with the short side up against the window. Since the chaise is there it is visually and functionally open but the windows are partially blocked.

I would be grateful for any opinions.

You do not have to push the sofa into the corner. You could center the sofa on the wall and put a table in the corner. Placement of photo arrangements can depend on photo size. Small photos, even 5x7, are best placed where a viewer can get up close to see the details. I think you should enlarge photos to 8x10 or greater for best viewing on the wall over the sofa.

Try putting the desk and your armchair and hassock on the wall side and the sofa turned facing the wall with one wing of it floating to divide the walkway behind the bar stools from the living area and the other one at the window. If the desk could go somewhere else things wouldn't look so crowded. Also straighten the little chest in the corner of the dining area and put it under the window. Do you have any art? You need a piece above the mantel that is no wider than the firebox opening. The dining room needs a piece hung 5" above the sideboard. The long wall can use art too.

Really??? I will give you my opinion on sectionals . I think sectionals are the most expensive way to but the most uncomfortable seating. No matter how large there are only the seats with an armrest that are comfy. All the rest are just like sitting in the center seat of a sofa that one no one wants to sit inusually. Get a sofa and 2 choirs 4 people comfy and the great thing is those pieces can be moved around and will fit if you move. As for a color I need to see the space often with the pieces I mention the sofa can be a solid and the chairs have some print .BTW that color is pretty intense beige maybe find the sofa yu love and paint the walls.

If you want a sectional, it looks like you could have one with the longest section facing the fireplace and either have a short section with its back to the window or opposite that, facing the window. But for placing the recliner so hubby can see the tv, probably back to the window would be best. I would not get a chaise sectional, if you need seating instead of lounging. If you need lounging/tv watching space, then a chaise running along the window would give prime tv view and it wouldn't block the view out the window. Then you could place the recliner (s) facing the window and view the tv - although a 2nd recliner close to the fireplace will have less than optimum view of the tv if there is even room for a 2nd one. You could put the tv on a swing mount so it could be angled more if lots of people are gathered to watch tv. It looks as if you don't have to use that doorway by the tv, since there is another in the dining area? I love a curved sectional for optimum conversation comfort, as well as lots of lounging space: picture the dining room where the painting is here:

That tis so hard to say without knowing the size of the sectional in relation to the room. I have a similar scenario. Because my room is small and my windows are often covered anyway to be able to view the tv and protect my furniture from the direct sun. We opted to put ours with the long side in front of the window and the short side opposite the fireplace/tv. If I had put the sectional on the open side it would not be inviting. I like a room to say "come sit" and the back to the entry doesn't say this to me. That being said I know there are times that this works very well. So I guess what I am saying is that we need pictures and dimensions please.

I agree that pics would help. I also have a chaise sectional and I have the long side against a wall facing a window with the chaise part on the fireplace side and the short "loveseat" side with its back to the entry. It doesn't protrude out that far and still makes an inviting space. My TV cabinet is angled in the corner between the window wall and the fireplace wall.
