ding ding ding ding: dinner time! Mon, Sept 16
Comments (23)Veggies all prepared, marinade made, strawberries cut up and marinating, just have to make some croutons and tear up the lettuce for the salad. Cellulitis seems to be clearing up. I was so lucky to catch it so early. Bitten on Thursday, started meds on Friday. Meds making me a little woozy. Talked to a friend today and she said her husband was playing golf a few years ago, bent down to pick up a twig, it had thorns on it, scratched his arm, got cellulitis, but like me, knew nothing about it and didn't have it checked for days. Wound up in the hospital, said the pain was so bad if they couldn't give him something for it they should just cut off his arm! Glad for once in my life I listened to someone. LOL Haven't played canasta in 50 years. Sounds like fun. Know you were kidding about bridge, but actually, I was suppose to have it here today. Had to cancel. Good thing because I wasn't planning on having to go to Richmond today. Maybe I'm getting too old to have so much fun! Everyone's dinner sounds yummy. I love to read this post. Get some ideas but most of all like to hear that everyone takes a night off and has either breakfast for dinner or an every man for himself night. Thanks for taking over for Patti, Glenda....and Patti, thinking of you and Harry and saying prayers for better days ahead....See MoreYour main meal today .. Tuesday
Comments (29)Yesterday I went out for breakfast, bacon, eggs, hashbrowns, rye toast and coffee at my favorite restaurant. It's been sunny and cool but very windy last few days. Currently clear and 24° F (that's -4.444445°C for my fahrenheitically-challenged friends but I'm not sure what's "metric" for "clear"). Winds are 25 mph (which translates to 40.23 km/h) with gusts well over 50 mph (80.47 km/h). My roof must look like a brush pile from the sound of things overnight. Had a beef stick snack late last night. No breakfast yet. Probably will make a meatloaf and cauliflower slaw later today....See MoreWhat is/will be your main meal today?
Comments (47)Today I'm roasting a chicken, actually two of them and will have whipped potatoes, fresh garden peas, gravy, sliced garden tomatoes and cucumber with red wine vinegar and oil. Honeydew mellon chunks. Terilyn, LOL about showing my sons gf how to cook. Her mother is a fabulous cook and supposedly her daughter does know how but thinks instant is faster. I had to laugh when his gf said she couldn't make it here today for a chicken dinner...she said she was busy and besides she had poultry yesterday...LOL. I wanted to tell her turkey lunch meat isn't poultry its chemicals. LOL....See MoreMain Meal Today
Comments (48)My sister had some family members over for dinner last night and she fixed Moroccan chicken with couscous. It was delicious!! Boneless chicken thighs cooked with a lot of spices, chickpeas, green olives, lemon juice and mint - not spicy but extremely flavorful! A simple spinach salad to go with. The best part was dessert.......and this was a new one for me - frozen bananas! You freeze very ripe (too ripe to use for just about anything else) bananas without the peels until hard as a rock. Then remove to room temp just long enough to allow them to thaw slightly - so you can easily break them into chunks. Put in a food processor or blender and smoosh to a creamy, smooth consistency and refreeze. That's it. Serve as you would ice cream. Tasted exactly as banana ice cream does but no added cream or eggs or sugar. It was amazing and I am not a huge fan of banana flavor (do not care for banana cream pie at all). She did add a small dollop of chocolate sauce over the top when serving, which didn't hurt :-) What a fast and easy and simple dessert!!...See Moreravencajun Zone 8b TX
