Picture of my new tree - to cut or not to cut
Comments (4)Try this for an easy solution.... Air-layer the top portion of the tree. Encourage lower buds to sprout new branches. Remove air-layered top portion and grow it...train newly sprouted lower branches into a bush form. When you remove the top portion of the original tree, dormant lower buds will sprout from near the base of the stem. This may even happen when you are in the process of rooting the top portion. You can kill two birds with one stone, and then you will have two, "Corky's Honey Delight" trees! That's a good thing. Start air-layers while tree is in full leaf and actively growing. Comments (2)Hi! I think that when it was in the compostible pot, it was drying out too fast. You probably shocked it when you cut the roots, in a compostible pot, you don't have to remove the pot, just stick it in the new one, and the peat will just desintegrate. where I live, mint takes a LOT of water. But you are colder so you may not want as much water. Instead of a schedule, it's better to feel the soil, if it's drying, it needs more, but if there is no drainage hole at the bottom of the pot, the roots might rot. Mint spreads, it's what it does best, so continuing to pot in a bigger pot is usually necessary, but you can do other things, one is, mint roots very easily, so when the plant gets crowded, you can cut a branch and stick it in water until it gets roots, then pot that up. In my experience, you can't over water mint, but I live in a climate like Southern Italy, so I don't know about your climate. Never fear, as long as you cut branches and put them in water, you will never lose your dear mint plant. :o)...See MoreHelp! My Precious Yellow Blossom!
Comments (11)I would probably start lactating at the sight of a tomato, true. I never thought breast feeding would come up in a tomato forum, but I appreciate an offbeat sense of humor ;) I don't have fish emulsion anymore anyway... doesn't go far with my sprawling hill of flowers. Makes me wish I still kept an aquarium just so I could continue bottling my own emulsion---learned that trick from a pet store several years ago. Unfortunately my fish went to heaven last year so that's no longer a possibility. But seriously, if you know any friends or neighbors with fish... tell 'em to save you some scum next time they clean the tank! Jessie...See MoreHelp! Comments (19)Still can't post pictures using full site on my laptop but I can post pics using phone app. So weird. Thanks everyone for the ideas. Talked to fabricator, basically he measured/cut wrong. Nothing can be done at this point. They also broke one of the dual vanity bathroom sink when installing vanity counter. When I tried to order another sink for the dual vanity, it'd been discontinued, argh. May need to remove the one sink already installed and buy 2 new sinks. I hate Murphy's Law. Here are more pics. Kitchen peninsula is 123" x 44" plus a another small section that make up the L shape. The seem was done well. A corner was chipped a little. A close up pic shows a surface scratch (really hard to see) and a crack under the surface easily seen. I put an iPhone 6 Plus and a 1.5" glass cabinet door knob on the peninsula as reference. Really love the inset cabinets....See MoreAmy (montreal, canada)
