The previous owner had it replaced 5 years ago and it’s still in good condition, so unfortunately we’re stuck with it for awhile.

I would keep the brick. If you painted it all one color, that the roof would really dominate. I can see the siding in a fern green (or a gray green), light warm gray or a light tan. Maybe paint the area around the door and the door frames a warm white to give it a special interest. I would remove the shutters. They don't seem appropriate to the style of the house.

Some of your plantings are overgrown and need to be replaced.

Can you post a clear photo of just this section so we can see more of the fixed elements together—roof and brick?

The painting plan you have seems like a mish mash. Did you try it out digitally at the paint store?

Keep the brick red. Since the roof dominates, match the siding to it so it's all of a piece. Or paint the siding the grout color of the brick., Take down the white shutters entirely.

Work on deeply extending your garden beds to pull the eye forward. That would greatly balance out the imposing roof.

I like the brick, I think it’s one of the most attractive features on your house. I agree with some of the other comments regarding paint & landscaping.

Is there brick on other parts of the house or is it just on the front of these three sections? After seeing the close up, I'm starting to lean toward painting the brick. The roof is a bummer.

A dark stone to work with your brick IMO would have been a better choice.

Forget what I said about matching the paint to the brick grout. They've already done that as I can see in the closeup. Just ignore everything I said--except for removing the shutters and really extending those garden beds.

I'm thinking stain the brick around the entrance to be a dark maroon-brown. I think the texture and the arch is nice.

Remove the bulky, applied, vertical moulding

Then either paint or stucco over the other brick the same color as the rest of the house. The color I used is SW Studio Taupe.

I should mention that this is the only brick on the entire house and the sides/back of the home is bat and board. They really set us up for quite the challenge on modernizing this house. Thank you all for your help! I'll post pictures of the finished product.

Is the roof really a pinkish-brown? It is so dominant that you can't ignore it when looking at colors.

Maybe move away from the pinkish-beige on the house to a cream that is neither leans pink or leans yellow. It would not be a major change, but you might like it better than what's there.

It certainly is a pretty house, despite the color issues it seems to have. A gray roof would have been ever so much better to work with - what were they thinking?
