Had Frost, but Blueberry Breakfast Opened Anyway
Comments (23)Val, I cannot even imagine having even one bloom in November! Rita, The annuals were hurt either...except a few of the zinnias, Pente, petunias and vinca and alyssum are still blooming away. and the migrating butterflies are everywhere. The gardenia bush has quite a few buds on it, but I covered it with a blanket. I covered one Duranta etrecta, and neither it nor the one in the graoun appear hurt...to the butterflies delight. Christine, late blooms are wonderful. Judy, I got four rose bands from Vintage, and put them in the greenhouse. I pinched two buds off today (Charles De Gualle and First Prize. It is hard to pinch buds, isn't it. I also got Lemon Spice (again! the voles killed it) and Waves, All Hybrid Teas, but older ones. I have several hundred tulip bulbs coming, and a few hyacinths and I have 50 dutch iris to plant, so I have enough to do to keep me out of trouble, but I do hate to see the season end. kay...See Moremy 'so close to being done I can taste it' kitchen
Comments (30)Beg to differ buffetgirl! You started demo Jan 2? And you don't think it's been fast!!! :>0 Can't believe how much you have done- even the window trim! Question on your granite BS. I see that it is the same height as under your window. Is your window only 4" above your counter- or is the backsplash higher than 4"? Brick would be nice. Would you brick all around the window too? Or just under the cabinets. With all the quality, classy details you have in your kitchen now, your choices for BS are wide open- doesn't help with the decision making though does it?...See MoreSo close yet undecided...
Comments (9)Setting aside "who wins", the look that your man wants of white cabinets with glaze is dated. If you said you both loved it, I would say it doesn't matter that glazed white cabinets have been dated for several years now. But you don't both love it. The problem with glazing white cabinets, besides being dated, is that unless it's done really well, it crosses the line into looking affected and fake, and then a few years down the road, may make your cabinets look prematurely shabby. To avoid that, and still have glazed white cabinets, you would need to have a real expert do the glazing, which will cost a lot. So that should take care of the cabinet finish decision. For the door style decision, I would ask the store for sample doors of the two styles, take them home, and see how the two styles look in your kitchen. It is amazing how seeing something in place in real life, rather than just a picture, can make your mind up....See MoreSo I had a dream...Now I must have it.
Comments (51)Hmmm, let's check that out. Can you post a photo of your whole house? We could try some mock ups to see how it all looks. Think of this: lots of people paint their doors bright colors to make them pop. Their door color doesn't match anything else, yet people have no qualms about that. So maybe a wood door wouldn't look off with a white garage door. And here in colonial country, I can think of many homes with wood doors and white garages....See MoreAngela (Zone 8B Texas)
