Design Dilemma Home Decorating Paint

Need help choosing a SW Paint wall color please. See Floor and stone

Need help with a Sherwin Williams wall color for the main part of the house. Here's a pic of the stone were putting on a feature wall in family room, and flooring for our home were remodeling. We live in SW Florida and we're going for the transitional or more coastal look. I'd like a more neutral but not too gray/cool or drab wall color. Need suggestions for trim too. Wondering if I should go to more ivory colors for the wall such as moderate white, rather than toward greige such as accessible gray? (as seen in the paint sample above the stone and floor.) thanks in advance for your suggestions

We used SW Shitake which plays well with both grays and browns and is a warmer neutral.

Great start, love your choices! Try SW Accessible Beige for the walls and Alabaster for the trim. It's warm, clean and neutral without being boring. I have very similar warm colors (like your floor and stone) and love it my home You can add dark gray accents.

Just did a condo reno with Saddlebrook Farmhouse. In certain qualities of light it can look peachy. In others, it looks more blonde. I managed the peachy away by changing lighting. With that said, I would not recommend this color unless you like the peachy-brown color. Go with the other one that has less pattern and is more brown. As far as a paint color plan that has the best odds of working together in a range of light sources and appealing to a lot of people, this is my go-to formula. I would never call it "fool-proof" but the odds are good. Ceiling color PPG's Delicate White. Wall color BenM's Revere Pewter or SW's Drift of Mist. Cabinets, doors and trim SW Extra White. If PPG paint is an option, it's good quality and value and they can match other brand's color. PPG's Break Through on cabinets, doors, and trim is a godsend because it dries and cures quickly. PPG's Pure Performance in eggshell is awesome for walls.

The tone of your cabinets is going to play a major role in choosing the right paint. Take a cabinet door with you to the paint store (not the home store) and ask for their color matching expert to help you pick exactly the right off white. Just buy sample pots of the colors you find and get some big white poster board. Paint a square or rectangle of color in the middle of each board. The white boarder will help keep your current paint color from distorting the sample. Move the boards around in different light, times of day and night and weather conditions to find the one that stays the way you want it to look all the time. When you go back to buy it, find a compatible white to do the ceilings that are looking rather dingy. The paint specialist will be your best friend.

Happy labor day lane. I love the color and your decor. I like that crushed ice really seems to pick up on both gray and beige which is what I was looking for. Thanks so much for the pics, it was helpful!

Hi Carolyn, WE Shitake is really pretty. I don't see much gray in the small sample , mostly beige. Is that accurate?

We found that the Shitake really changed tone depending upon what it was surrounded by. I would suggest painting a large sample board and moving from place to place in your light and against your other materials. I found choosing paint colors the hardest part of building our home. You have to have a large sample and take to the actual place you want to paint it to see the light because it changes depending on where you are.

Choose the soft grayed green from the stone and IMO no beige

Hi Patricia, thank you for that. I looked at SW Crushed Ice for the wall as opposed to agreeable gray. my daughter sees a slight green cast to crushed ice. Does it fit the bill you think? Michelle

FYI Sherwin Williams will tint their paint to other manufacturers colors. I get my SW paint tinted to BM colors all the time

We used SW Sensible Hue on our island which is a gray with a green cast to it. Looks a lot lighter on our island than what I am seeing on the SW website.
