Comments (25)wendy - Great points. Since the original layouts posted above, I've been trying different things with a lot more frames. I'm getting the hang of it, I think. I won't be sticking with anything like the original layouts I posted. pammy - I will watch the height placement of the smaller frames. shee - I know what you mean about the symmetry thing. I did purchase many more frames, so that is helping, but I actually need more yet! Well, this little project has turned into a bigger project. juddgirl - Thanks for the links. Some of the frames came with matting already, which is nice, and I got a lot of the frames at 50% off (after Christmas sales). So, right now I have 17 frames, some matted, and I've spent less than $200. While I agree that having identical frames and matting makes it easier to pull everything together, I'm attracted to the more casual look of a variety of frame styles. I am sticking to the same color for them, though. I know I'm making it harder in doing it this way, but I'll figure it out somehow....See MoreHelp me layout this gallery wall
Comments (8)The picture on the left looks too dark in relation to the others and the two on the bottom look too similar to each other. It's also a good idea if the frames are not too dissimilar in color. I would have a look under Paintings in e-bay. They have a wealth of original art, much of it very affordable, and you should be able to find several pieces that really appeal to you. From what you have there I like the vase picture on the right and the landscape at the top. I would look for more pictures that are contemporary to go with the vibe of your room. I have a lot of art, including two gallery walls, but I've never used templates: I just lay them out on the carpet. I would say you definitely need more pictures. A head and shoulder portrait or two would probably be more interesting than just flowers....See MoreNeed help with gallery wall layout
Comments (11)everdebz Yes. The bench does have a nook on the other end too, so I could just put pillows on that side and not on this side. Most of the sitting happens on the other end because the dining table sits off center (because its centered to the window which is also off center) and the other end is closer to the table. Usually my main priority is function but on this wall, I definitely want to prioritize what looks better because there are plenty of other places to sit. If the opinion is that I should only just use 1 - black or walnut - then I will do that. Do you think I should I just use one? It seems like black might have the most impact....See MoreLindsay Lee
