Do you need more than 2 heights? Coffee table and dining seem to be all you need. The table in the video looks like you can select it in black with a base that has hidden storage. I like the fact that as a coffee table the surface is much smaller than when raised to the dining height. Does the one pictured also do that? Anyway, the video looks like raising and lowering the table is very easy and quick. And that table in black would be my first choice.

Thanks for all your advice. I'm so glad that I didn't just rush in and start this. From the sounds of it, I WOULD HAVE ruined them . . . :^0 . . . OMGosh! I need to run all this by DH. He's been encouraging me to call up and order a set I like that I saw in Phoenix Home & Garden magazine spread. I can't imagine ordering anything that big and expensive sight unseen, though. Hmmmmmm, there may be a weekend trip to Scottsdale in the offing ;^) In the mean time, I need to decide whether I want to paint the set a brown first and them give the Gel Stain a go or just leave it as is until I get a new set. BTW, I haven't looked into having it professionally stripped and redone. I probably should. I can't imagine a red or blue table in our dining room, though. I'll have to think about that one.

You are in the middle of a beautiful exciting time! I bet this same question on the GardenWeb Furniture forum would get you some source recommendations. I love finding a well loved used furniture bargain but I know how much time I have spent on that kind of hunt. I just checked Overstock.com .... I've seen in magazines recently furniture & accessories from there all really stylish and great prices. They ship internationally. Today there are not very many in your 96 inch length....I filtered for Rectangle shape. Most are about $200 but this one that is dark walnut finish (made of hardwoods and veneers, doesn't say what kind) is $720. I don't like the chairs with this one but on Overstock there are 100s of chairs. Good luck with your hunt. Living where you live maybe buying furniture online is for you. Years ago I bought my first couch & loveseat from a showroom in North Carolina over the phone. I talked to a design consultant on the phone and got the brand I wanted and chose the fabric from a local store that had it. The company I first used Furniturelandsouth is online and you could try shopping over the phone. They would send you links to 96 inch, espresso finish, rectangle tables, whatever parameters you say. I think the table works but I do not think the sofas work with the table the table is very sleek and contemporary the sofas not so much and the tables for sure not. Maybe if the sofas must stay then some glass and chrome tables and a rug that is very contemporary added to the LR and then chairs for the table in a color from the rug to keep this from too much dark in a really nice space . Are those legs on the table metal? These types of rugs I love the multi colored one and I would dored chairs with that table and the glass and chrome coffee and end tables and some really good table lamps in a very contemporary style You need art on the walls the lamps in the picture of the table would be great .
