Chandelier options for MCM-ish/modern/post and beam - pls help choose
Comments (61)thanks, cawaps. And you're right - I just re-read the thread and it did get a few votes! Deciding on a chandelier took so long and I appreciate all the feedback and thoughts I got here. Annie Deighnaugh ...Would you mind sharing how you are lighting that soffitt? Not sure if you are still looking for cove lighting, but we used Alloy Led tape lights that are housed in a light diffusing track. We looked at a lot of options, and this seemed to be the best and most affordable option. It wasn't inexpensive, but some of the cove lights our designer and architect recommended were quite expensive, and we needed a lot of lighting as the light soffitt runs all through the house. We also used them as under counter lights. There are some options that changed colors, but decided to go with just the warm white....See MoreCan I put a modern front door on my 1978 house?
Comments (23)Thanks so much Hallet & Co. I was thinking the same that the door would look better from the outside. It sounds crazy but we hadn’t even though of swapping out the other doors, but I like that suggestion. For the other interior doors, would you recommend the same style door as the front door, just without the glass or would you recommend a plain slab door? Also, when you say paint the trim so the floors are the star, what do you suggest?...See MoreHelp please!!! Can this house pull off the black and white MCM look?
Comments (18)Wow, thank you all so much for the ideas!!! I've been looking at different houses and colors online and in stores all day and I seem to keep coming back to this inspo picture posted this morning by JudyG Designs. It has the same window grilles on the tops of the windows that our property has and a low profile, black shingle roof. I love the bright white color (Chantilly Lace maybe?) and the Yellow Hibiscus door! My husband is currently at the house wrapping the columns with 5 1/2" boards. If I try to go this route I would just paint the whole house Chantilly Lace, the door Yellow Hibiscus, and skip adding black trim. Might stick with painting the walkway and front porch SW Online (grey). Do you guys think it could work?! Thank you so much again for the outpouring of help!! I am both color and decision challenged which makes choosing paint colors (even for a rental) an anxiety-ridden task:( You're ideas and inspiration pictures have helped so much!!...See MoreHelp needed on front elevation for modern prairie - colors, materials
Comments (70)One of the worst things you could do is spend a lot of time on the front elevation and ignore the other sides of the house; making the front architecturally appealing and the rest like the unwanted child. Granted the other sides may not be seen as much, but they will be seen, and they are part of the whole which contribute to the sense of home....See MoreBryan
