getting blood stains out of cotton sheets
Comments (12)I use 10 year old Asko 220V machine. I treat blood with Resolve spray (I think is the name) which used to be Spray and Wash. Then I wash with Tide HE plus Oxyclean at 160F plus temp. Never had any problems with stains. Oxyclean is predomantly Hydrogen peroxide as noted above. On tough blood stains, I have put oxyclean with mixed with water directly on the stain and soaked over night. I often soak my kitchen towels in Oxyclean and it is amazing the what comes out of the soaking... I am not sure if I helped you or not since most people cannot wash their clothes at a higher temp. This is why clothes were "boiled" in the olden days, to get the stains out.... The Asko washer always starts with cold water. Then the water is heated to a temp set by the machine (up to 200F). The machine cycle takes about 2 hours. No kidding. The warm/hot water sets in the stains before the chemicals have had the chance to do its work. Any type of protein stains get set into the fabric from the hot water....See MoreEgyptian Cotton Sheets (WHITE) Wash Temp?
Comments (68)Whirlpool - nothing the matter with that routine. My household sheets are washed weekly at 158F, with a 5 min bleach at the end, triple rinsed and dried. Zero problems here. My household Towels which are used once are light soil and washed at 120F 15 min. Wash and 5 min Bleach with two rinses and a finish softener in the third. They come out better and softer than using a Sanitary cycle, and just as clean and sanitized with the bleach. Zero problems again. Ya have to do what works for you, but my personal opinion is I process the laundry in the most cost effective, time efficient manner while ensuring excellent clean, soft, and sanitized laundry....See MoreExcellent Ralph Lauren 100% Cotton Percale Sheets
Comments (1)Huge sucker for paisley and Homesense (same as your Home Goods). I really like those! I was in a rush a few weeks ago and grabbed my son a twin set of Ralph plaid sheets for camp ($34.99). Same place of manufacture. I really liked them and agree quite nicely finished. A stiff cotton percale finish. He loved them. (like this but twin http://www.ebay.com/itm/RALPH-LAUREN-UNIVERSITY-BLUE-WHITE-PLAID-QUEEN-SHEET-SET-4PC-/381719316440?hash=item58e03e87d8:g:NjoAAOSwENxXnBJF) A few years ago I got my younger son a set of Nautica sheets for $39.99 (full/double) that were retail over $350. They were a blue/off white ticking but the pattern was woven right in the fabric not printed on. They are still beautiful sheets. More of a sateen finish though. I just love looking for high end bargains there. Not long ago my mother found linen sheets from Belgium that were crazy expensive for super cheap. A one off find....See MoreFound Linen or Cotton Flat Sheets
