200 TC 100% Cotton Muslin Sheets
Comments (9)I haven't bought these particular sheets, and they sound very nice. When I was a young bride, I didn't know a thing about thread count and I bought a sheet set which was either 180- or 200-count. They were impossible to sleep on; were unbearably scratchy, no matter how many times I washed them in mild detergent *and* used fabric softener. Finally, after about a year (we were living on a shoestring then), I broke down and bought more, making sure I bought a higher thread count. Oh, the bliss! Not long ago, I came across a fantastic deal - 100% cotton, 600-thread count sheets *on clearance* for less than $40 at BJ's (a warehouse store). Dear hubby and I were needing a set of sheets for our Q-size bed, so I grabbed them, LOL. They are absolutely luxurious. They do tend to wrinkle in the dryer, so I always get them out just as soon as the dryer chimes and either fold them to put them away or put them on the bed immediately. Dear hubby hardly ever notices anything like that, but he has commented on how nice these sheets feel. Unfortunately, I don't remember the brand name that was on the sheets; I wish I did....See MoreLG WT4870 Hot Wash Temp
Comments (30)Non-European washers just don’t heat water properly. Period. End of story. You have to spend money to get machines that actually heat water to the temp you set. I have looked at every brand out there. Miele is the ONLY brand that GUARANTEES the wash water will meet the set temp in every cycle except ”Normal”. Which should be labeled eco. Even in this cycle the wash water temp is met if the machine is not filled with tap cold. Normal is almost always neutered in some way to get the energy start rating and the associated kick back money from the government. Our family does MANY 60C (140F) washes. Usually several a day. These are anywhere from 70-90 minutes long. You can feel the heat on the door. Bosch and asko will also heat, but they don’t publish the temps nor do they tell you the temp for each cycle. Hot in normal is usually different that Hot in Whites on Bosch. I have owned two and had to use a temp probe to find the temps per cycle. Never again. Miele is simple. Every step up is another 10C. From 20C-70C. The clean machine cycle is 80C. There is a chart of every cycle and which temps are supported for that cycle in the user manual. To expect similar from an $800 washer just won’t happen. Something has to give to meet that price point. Unfortunately many don’t realize what they give up until the machine is installed and frustration sets in. I HATE paying for Miele appliances. I Love using them. I just grit my teeth and pay when i wear out an appliance and have to buy new. I have never regret the purchases once they are paid for. Clothes are always clean. Cycles for everything, including wool and silk. I know this does not help if you already have an LG washer. Keep in mind for next time. Buy quality and cry once when you pay. Then smile and enjoy doing laundry after that. There is a reason there are functional toy Miele washer and dryer sets. Until you have or use a set it will be hard to understand....See MoreCan you age new cotton sheets ?
Comments (4)Well I have washed the sheets a couple of times in hot water - the last wash I used just white vinegar - about 2 cups (no detergent), let the machine agitate and then soak for a bit. After they came out of the dyer they were significantly nicer, the "hand" is closer to what I am looking for! It's funny but one sheet is solid and I am happy with the feel of that one, but the other is printed and had the more "plasticy" feel, now greatly reduced. I am going to try again with the vinegar, thanks for the suggestion Lazygardens!...See MoreFound Some! New, Crisp, Cool, Cotton Percale Sheets
Comments (97)I have some of the Target Threshold percales. One set was returned a month later as the fitted split down the middle, another was returned several months later falling apart at the elastic. Some of the print ones are rarely used but are ok...a white fitted that's used all the time is shredding at the elastic corners..Threshold has several makers, some are made in China and some in India. some of the exact sheets feel ok in the package and some feel like parachute fabric. Although with sheets now being treated with different chemicals like insecticide you really can't tell how a sheet will really feel until its had a number of good washes. All in all most of the Threshold sheets are worth buying, they arnt expensive so I guess if you use them regularly and they last a year its all good. Personally I feel sheets should be an investment, buy a few really good quality sheets and your set. I only use vintage percales, 100% long staple cotton....love them....See Moremamapinky0
