What paint for this hallway and its many doors?

My home is in the Southwest and is adobe style. The hall to my bedrooms in this house is dark, the ceiling is low and it has five ugly doors. It is 3 feet wide, 7 feet tall and 17 feet long, and BORING!

If I had endless cash and energy I would remove all the white trim, and the lifeless hollow core doors replacing them with knotty pine.

Since I don't have endless cash or energy, I'm taking down the worthless wall sconce and putting up 3 LED can/pocket lights (4 inch).

I'm also planning on putting up a faux beam to the entrance of the hall and perhaps down the right side to bring a little more rustic look to the hall. I have a plan for the the closet (end of the hall), to bring the eye to something more interesting.

I like my mustard rugs. They look good with both the wood flooring and the adjacent brick floors.

Attaching photos of the hall and some paint colors I am considering. I really hate the stark

white trim and boards, and with so many door in that little hall, I am trying to figure out how to make them fade, rather than announce themselves. Looking for advice on what color to paint the walls, the doors and the trim.

I'm sorry, but those rugs do nothing to help the situation. Look for patterned ones in warm, darker colors so that they blend into the dark wood floor rather than sticking out llike a sore thumb. Geometrical Oriental rugs will work with your style if you can't find a rustic design that is southwestern. I wouldn't go so yellow or dark with your wall color but rather choose an off-white color which will not go out of style and will always be a classic.

I agree with Ingrid. Something along these lines would be beautiful on your floor ...

I also think a single, long runner would be better than two runners. But, if you truly love your mustard rugs and aren't wanting to consider a change, no worries. I would choose a light beige for your walls. Darker shades will make it feel even more cave-like. I'd keep the doors white, same as the trim.

I love adobe houses, and yours looks quite interesting! Is that a kiva fireplace in the living room?

alright, thanks. gonna have the moorside set on a diagonal and think more about thresholds. tile guy suggests putting the white marble there to separate the two. but, won't 12 " pieces of white marble with grout between not look good as a threshold? i thought thresholds were supposed to be one strip of a stone (or other material). i can't find images of this anywhere and am having a tough time imagining. uggh.

houssaon, yes she is a mix of an art deco and Mediterranean style house with almost everything in it original to 1938. She is a beautiful home with character. While none of the features of this house would be anything i would have personally chosen for my self if i had a blank canvass, I am keeping her in her original glory for as long as I can. I like your suggestions. Thank you.

Maybe your wants/tastes are beyond what the area will support? This might not be the lot/area for you, specially when you keep saying you will probably not want to be there for that many years? We built in a nice community with med/high home prices for the area. When we started designing the house we felt we were going to overprice ourselves with new construction, because most of the homes were older existing homes. We were ok with that, because we planned to be here till we couldn't manage a large house or we died! Well, covid happened and the prices for the older homes shot through the roof. We built a brand new house for less than older homes, that need updating, have sold for. Doesn't really matter that we could make a nice profit on the house, because we have no plans to sell right now! Bottom line, I just don't think this is the right location for what you want to do or you wouldn't be having such a hard time with the whole thing. Things shouldn't be that hard when they are meant to be the right choices!

I had a rug with pattern in - all it did was make things feel more cave-like. The photo doesn't show the rugs well at all. They are a mustard yellow, and IMO, the best part of the hall.

I can't tell you how much I despise white doors and trim -so much so that I wouldn't bother to paint if I can't change this color. If the living room hadn't been so nice, the white trim would have been a deal breaker on buying this house - that's how much I hate white trim.

how did you determine the positioning/spacing for the lights? I am considering this in my main hallway to bedrooms but i'm worried about lights in new places shining into peoples eyes when they're in bed :) did you have any guidance on this with what typically works, or did you just go with your gut?
