DH and I went out for Chinese this afternoon. There's leftovers if he's hungry tonight. I will just make myself a salad.

Don't know. Just broke through a weight loss plateau this week. Had a cheeseburger for lunch and a Banana Baby for a snack so I have around 900 calories left for the day.

Chicken paprikash!! I got a craving for it earlier, it's almost done now and smells so good!!

Grilled lemon chicken tenders, steamed Brussels sprouts, and broccoli rice.

Beef stuffed green pepper, rice pilaf and carrots. Lemon zucchini loaf for later.

Oven baked fried chicken, potato salad, fresh spinach, sliced tomatoes, and watermelon....it’s a cold meal for a hot day!

We went to Dirty Dick's for seafood. I had steamed shrimp. Naturally slim and trim DH had a combo platter with lots of calories. :)

A large salad for me with strawberries, blueberries, tomato, onion, cheese, one sliced egg, cucumber, and lettuce. Ready now for coffee and cupcake!

Big salad also, bacon, cheese, avocado.

Just got through buying his first dorm room needs, school supplies, and new clothes. So much money! So close to being gone (he gave his presentation on his project yesterday and took the poster to the symposium today. Internship is almost done). Sigh. Ate a bowl of cereal. He's picked out steaks to grill for this weekend, and chicken thighs to smoke next weekend, if either of those can inspire ;)

I grilled chicken breast and then topped them with some salsa verde that I made. Served with rice pilaf (Jim's style) and corn.

We had antipasto- fresh garden tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, roasted red peppers, Italian meats with some leftover shrimp salad and steak.

Chi, your husband is a gem. You deserve some spoiling.

Left over unstuffed pepper soup (have about a bowl left for tomorrow's lunch) and cucumbers in sour cream. Going to top it off with raspberry shortcake. Made the cake yesterday using Pixiestix, who used to post here, recipe for hot milk cake........love that recipe!

Strombolis and salad.

Grand-girls here. Had one of their favorites. Shake in bake chicken, broccoli, cheesy mashed potatoes, and cottage cheese. Root beer floats for dessert.

Shrimp gumbo. Made it last night and had it for supper and had it for lunch today and again for supper tonight. Really good. Sorry it is gone. ;)

Beef tips with noodles/gravy. Corn on cob, fresh sliced tomato and cucumbers and watermelon chunks. I ask the boys what we should have tomorrow ..they both responded the same as today...Good because I cooked to much. If they don't mind the same two day in a row I sure don't. Lol. I think I will make some roasted pears with a warm caramel glaze though and a honey roll (like a dinner roll)recipe from over on cooking that I've been wanting to make. Saturday I'm planning homemade pizza if I can find a crust recipe using the bread machine.

A hair appointment took my morning, and I worked outside this afternoon. I'm trying to justify not cooking ;0)

We had a Costco chicken and tomato stew that was new to us. Lots of red and yellow cherry tomatoes, garlic, nicely seasoned. Toast, and I washed some blueberries and raspberries to have with yogurt for our 'salad'.

Hot Milk Cake
from pixistix

4 eggs
2 cups sugar
2 1/4 cups flour
2 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/4 cups milk
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter

Beat eggs and sugar well. Combine flour with bk. powder and add to egg mixture along with vanilla. Heat milk and butter together until butter melts; gradually add to batter, beating until well blended.

Pour batter into a greased 9x13 pan or a bundt pan. Bake at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes. Old fashioned, simple, melts in your mouth

****I bake mine in a square pyrex dish, and bake it about 45 minutes.

Marilyn I wish I could have had some of that shrimp gumbo! I have not made any in a long time. I have some cut frozen fresh okra I need to cook up and put in the freezer for my gumbo. I lost all of the ones I had stored in the flood along with the shrimp and everything else. I have been buying shrimp every time I see a good price.

Raven, I love shrimp gumbo. My husband hasn't shrimped much since the hurricane. He got a boat that had not worked in 10 years and has spent the last 2 years rebuilding everything on it. I hope he got out today. I called and left a message to bring home some shrimp. Want to saute them in butter and add a little cream......

I was out on business calls all day and pooped by the time I got home late afternoon so I did breakfast for dinner as well.....mushroom and chicken liver omlette. One of my favorites. And sourdough toast.

I have been in the mood for lasagna (who knows why!!) but really only like homemade so will be attempting to make a small sized dish of it today. Lasagna for one?? We'll see how well that goes :-) My sister is off pasta these days (slimming) and my freezer won't accommodate much of anything and after one leftover meal, I've had enough. Hard to cook stuff like that for a single person and not waste it.........

Really? That's mine and my mom's special dish we eat together. You can join us next time. We might even have gravy on it, but ssshhh don't tell.

Aside from pate, my favorite way to eat chicken livers!! But I'd probably skip the gravy :-))

I make that cake as cupcakes in my jumbo muffin tins and use it for strawberry shortcake when my berries are ripe. Reading these posts has inspired me to make stuffed peppers for supper tonight

Rose, have you tried making the cake with less sugar? I thought it might be nice served topped with peaches or strawberries or mixed fruit which is sweet.

I made the cake yesterday....thanks again, Glenda. I cut the recipe in half because I baked it in a toaster oven about the size of a shoe box, but it turned out great. I put a thin lemon icing on it. Tonight we had barbecue. I sent my husband a message to bring something home for supper....he brought beef ribs, pork ribs and beef brisket. So good!

Me too.....breakfast. Sausage patties, eggs/omelette w/ cheese, toast.

I had salmon and green bean almondine, frozen from a Home Chef meal. I ate it at work a few hours ago.
