help finding a console table for an odd space
Comments (8)We had a similar situation and wanted to hide all of our electrical cords, so purchased an Ashley Furniture Glen Eagle Accent Cabinet that worked beautifully. You can "Google" and see what it looks like. (I had trouble posting the pic.) Even though Ashley Furniture is not considered by many to be one of your better furniture dealers, for something like this, that you are going to use for storage and to house your cell phone chargers, etc., this is perfect. And it really is a nice-looking piece that complements our other furniture. I can't remember exactly what we paid for it, but it was around $300, has lots of storage space. If that doesn't interest you, Overstock.com has a wide array of accent tables and consoles, many for $200 or less, and you can't beat their shipping charge of $2.95. Good luck!...See MoreLooking for ideas for odd space in bedroom - any ideas?
Comments (14)Rob, if you have less than 30 1/4" between the two walls, it won't work for hairdrying. The user will be banging elbows into both walls. And yes, buyers will notice how narrow it is.. i know no women who sit down at a vanity to put on make-up. I certainly don't. It's a lovely, romantic thought, but not based on reality. The days of long, elaborate cosmetic rituals are long gone. As others have said, making this a make-up vanity will not update the condo, it will date it. My choice would be to make it storage or a spot for a pretty piece of furniture, as others have suggested. If you decide a sink is absolutely necessary, please improve the lighting. And change the flooring to something waterproof and cleanable! The thought of toothpaste on the carpet makes me shudder....See MoreHelp me update my 80s Cape Cod Exterior
Comments (5)Hope you're having fun dreaming about your outdoor space! I agree that some simple landscaping could really create an inviting space for the front of this exterior, but fresh paint could make a big difference, too. Pay attention to the color combinations you see on other houses & try playing with color on a website like https://certapro.com/paint-color-ideas/. Or if you're up for something a bit more substantial, you could create a craftsman look over your porch which would give it more substantial curb appeal! I'm not crafty enough to do even a rough rendering of a craftsman look, but accidentally uploaded what I did, so don't judge me! LOL :)...See MoreLooking for ideas- exterior update to my house
Comments (38)Good morning, Beth, I never answered you. Yes, we are in SoCal. Stucco box land! I didn’t think I could achieve my “dream house” look with *this* house, but I’m hopeful now. I gleaned a lot of inspiration from this feature on Mediterranean farmhouses. https://decomg.com/75-beautiful-rustic-mediterranean-farmhouse-exterior-design/ I can’t tell you how helpful this thread has been...helping me understand what it is exactly I like and don’t like, and what terms get me images of what I do like. It’s not modern that I like necessarily, but minimal, simple. And maybe it’s not black and white, but contrast (I.e. not all beige, ugh!). And I do love farmhouses, but it’s really the metal roofs and industrial lighting. And I absolutely adore black steel windows, but I can get my fix in a front or back door. I’ll be sure to share a photo of what we end up doing. Here are a few of my favorite images from the website I posted. I hope this discussion helps others!...See MoreCelery.
