What would you do against this fence? Pics
Comments (6)If you have enough water/rainfall, I'd put in Morning Glory. It will get going to get you privacy asap. It will have no problem with the Wisteria. I'm not sure about the bearing load of the fence. That said,I also have NO privacy. My fence is hideous(chain link 3') and it has all ready sustained damage from unchecked tree growth IN the fence line. That was the privacy and the trees were Hackberries so I cut them down. So for quick,tall(10ft or more) evergreen privacy I put in 5 lady banks and 2 cecil brunners. Lady banks have enough thorns to add to security without being impossible to prune.LB lives in excess of 200 yrs. It gets BIG. I planted mine 5' from the fenceline so I can get back there (with a bit of difficulty if I don't keep it pruned.) That way, when we do get a solid fence eventually,I will be able to keep the heavy rose off the fence line. I've seen a Lady Banks rose/Wisteria mixed planting it was lovely together BTW. Hope this idea helps you! PJ...See MoreWhat do you think of this steel pole fence?
Comments (6)Thank you guys! Well, I just gave a deposit for the fence. *gulp* Once it rusts, I am hoping it will will match the red rock of the house. WMA89 - it has to be 5 ft tall for code. Thanks for the bird info shrubbish and hhreno! I do have those stickers all around the glass in the house. I wanted to make sure they worked before I bought more for the fence. I got them at a wild bird store. I need to get some more, but wanted to make sure it worked first. Birds can see light in a different wavelength than humans. I think the stickers stand out more to them, as the reflect light in that wavelength range. It will be 5 feet tall, up to code. Arcy, for some reason the glass stays relatively clean. Of course it needs to be cleaned but only maybe twice a yr. I am surprised. Maybe it is because where I live it does not rain much? The fence shouldnt block the view as it will be the same height as the fence that is already there. LOL the only view I have in that direction is my neighbor's house, anyway. Desertsteph, I bet we live in the same state - AZ. :) Here is a better pic of the fence wash and neighbor:...See MoreHelp with what to plant along back fence?
Comments (1)I've fallen in love with Lorepetalum. It comes in a lot of colors and sizes. :) I'm no expert to know if it works where you are (I'm up by Sac). If it does work, you could almost mix and match the colors all along there. As much as I wasn't in love with Pittosporum at the nursery, it looks way different in my yard. Shimmery. (And we used the Black Stem standard variety of Pittosporum...some of the other ones, like Silver Sheen, shine/shimmer way more.) Like I said, no expert on what grows where you are, but just my 2 cents....See MoreBack fence section - should I leave it off?
Comments (6)A single gate in the back fence is best for people in a garden. A double gate will look more industrial ag. Take all three play items and group them together as single functioning play area on the left or right side of the yard (whichever neighbor's side jabbering children will annoy the most - ha, just kidding). Grouping them to one side will look much better than the current line of it across the back and open more of the view of the borrowed landscape. Let your kids help decide on the exact placement. They will intuitively know how they want to move from one item to the next....See MoreSammie J
