What size dining room table should I get? 152" x 149" dining room

Hi!

My dining room is almost a square. It is 152" x 149" or (12'8" x 12'5"). There are 3 walls with openings to other rooms in case that matters. I'll attached a drawing. I like rectangular tables, but do you think round would be better since it's a square? I'm not too keen on round or oval tables, though. Round feels casual to me and oval feels traditional. My decor is mostly transitional, leaning heavily on modern. For rectangular tables, which orientation is better? Would you have the long or short side face the living room? Thanks!

You have a very small DR. My own is almost square - nearly 13 x 13 and it's very tight. I have an antique table that is nearly square, too, when no leaves are in it. I cannot get around the chairs that back up to the sideboard when someone is sitting in them. Things must be "passed" instead of "served". I hate the size of the room, but love my furniture.

Subtract 64” from each dimension for the two needed 36” aisles on each side of the table. That’s your max size.

Please read the following recall before you buy EA. Ethan Allen "American Impressions" and "New Country" rectangular dining tables Could collapse and cause injury. Products: 7,071 wood tables sold from 8/03 to 1/05 at Ethan Allen furniture stores nationwide for $1,069 to $1,199. How to size a dining room table to the room?

If you have a china cupboard that will be on one of the 12 foot walls, and it is no more than 20" deep, you can fit the table into the room, but the person at the end of the table adjacent to the family room, may need to push the chair back into the entry way between dining a family room to get up from the table. Arithmetic: 80" long table = 6' 8". Recommended chair space = 3' (36") x 2 chairs = 6' Table + chair space = 12' 8" Room length = 12' 40" wide table = 3' 4" Table + chair space = 9' 4" Room width = 11' Maximum depth for china cupboard = 1' 8" = 20"

I have attached a picture of the chairs I have now with the table. I need four more chairs and would love to do a mix and match style. Have any suggestions on what type of chairs I should get? Thanks! P.S. Advice on a new light would be great as well! Going for the more industrial/rustic look.

I admit, I've never quite understood the idea of having both a living room and a family room, esoecially in an open concept house. I grew up in an era where houses had separate rumpus rooms, usually in the basement, where little kids could have their toys and bigger kids could hang out without interfering with or messing up the adult areas of the house. The living room was where the adults watched tv, entertained or read, and that area might have been a separate room, or open to the dining room. So I guess my question would be, how do you plan on using those two rooms that will give them each a clear purpose?

Why 64"? If you need 2-36" aisles, you need to subtract 72" right?

Sorry, brain fart typo. Been up since 3. Yes, 72” is what is needed for folks to get in and out and past other diners. 64” is workable for just sitting, if you load them in sequence and no one needs to get in or out. But, simeone will need to per, guaranteed. Then it’s unload everyone to let someone out like you’re in a booth at a diner.

After calculating what was written above me, it looks like you can fit the same size table I have in my dining room, which is 42" wide by 78" long with the leaf in. We can fit up to 8 people at our table with the leaf in. I also love having a rectangle table! I have two openings in my dining room - one to the living room and the other to the kitchen. I have a door on the other wall and a window on the 4th. Just place your table in the middle of the room and it will work.
