I think I understand your plan, however, I am going to say that some landscaping along the house will anchor it to the ground. I think the kitchen window's difference will look odd if the height is different and draw attention to it with the stone. It's a cute house and I think simpler the better -- like upgraded lighting and a color added to the front door. Landscaping around the foundation will make a difference.

Iron seems like a dark color. Who manufactures it?

I don't think I would put stone, other than continue the existing rubble stone on the foundation.

I would not do the stone at all. I think it is unnecessary and may be overwhelming.

Love the house as it is now. I would not add stone. I would stick with wide siding and no shakes. I think adding a bunch of different contrasting elements to such a cute little house overwhelms it. Keep with the simple elements original to the house. While I love high contrast, I don't think that huge amount of white trim contrasting with the dark siding is working. How about a mid-tone siding color and dark windows and trim (black or charcoal)?

The stone does nothing, in fact, detracts, for the house.

Iron is almost black and you pay an "up-charge" for it.

How about white siding with black trim and windows, fresh red door, and no stone?

These are the colors GP has for your siding. The ones with a + have an up-charge. I circled the colors I think would look good on your house. I even like the red they have. It would be super cute with white trim.

I would not add stone (beyond what is there) nor would I get rid of those curves on the trim because that is my fave part of this "storybook-esque" cottage.

Aha. I completely missed that you were replacing the siding instead of painting. Still, GP has a lot of beautiful colors; surely you can do better than iron.

I also agree that the stone really makes the house less attractive. Right now, you have an adorable cottage and you don’t need much besides landscaping.

OMG...you are so creative! I grew up in this house when I was younger and it has always been green. I am moving in there so I'm trying to make it Updated and a little more "Modern Cottage"....or something. The roof is gray and has some green in it which you really can't see. I like the landscaping....I'm just not sure about the Blue. I was thinking if I go Lighter a Grey...trying to cover some of the dirt:) My dilemma with the windows like that...the other side window is in the kitchen and the other window in that room matches it......Oh Man....keep the ideas coming!! I appreciate all of your input!!

Pretty, does the siding need to be replaced? It looks in good condition from here. Maybe it just needs painted. If so, you can make it any color you want.
